first calendar now photos invitation spam

I have gotten a couple of spam calendar invites in the past two weeks. I was careful to follow the protocol for deleting them without sending a reply back to the sender (create a new calendar named "junk" or whatever, move the invitation to that calendar, delete that calendar and when asked decline to send reply for invites).

Now I just got a spam invitation in Photos so share photos.

Is there a way to deal with this without having any comfirmation/reply being sent back to the sender?

Is there some way to block all of this kind of spam?

Thanks,

Dave

Why do you think this is spam? Usually it's someone who knows you and is wanting to share some photos with you. If you don't wan't to see the shared photos just delete the email that you got and forget it.

I don't know if this solution will work for you, in that it suits your needs. What I did was went to Settings -> iCloud->Photos->Turned off iCloud Photo Sharing

That took care of the Photo invitation.

For the calendar, I followed the same process except for Calendars instead of Photos, and turned it off.

Then I noticed the calendar invitation disappeared. Fingers crossed that this fixes the problem for future spam invitations.

I've been having the same issue for the past week....and never before!

I've gotten multiple iCalendar (3 so far) and iPhoto Share (2 in the past 24 hours) invitations - each from different sender addresses but all in what appears to be Chinese (cut and pasted into a translator and it confirmed).

At first, it was just annoying but now it's a bit alarming (why has this just started? and what else could be going on?).

Sure, I just deleted the first one...and then just deleted the 2nd one....but as more and more are coming, this doesn't really fix the problem.

I've taken the same step as touch84 did of disabling sharing for both Calendar and Photos in the iCloud account settings. Ideally, Apple would add an option to the settings that only allows sharing/invites through if the sender's email address is already in your contacts.

I'll submit this as a request to Apple but others should do the same.

Is there someone at Apple that can help us block these unwanted spam from unknown Chinese gambling web sites trying to collect credit card information?

Unwanted Spam Calendar Invite from Chinese Gambling Web Site

I have the same issue... I received calendar invites first.. there was no way to block the unwanted invites for a Chinese gambling web site which looks like it tries to collect credit card information. I wonder if the person sending this from their device is even aware they are sending out all these spam invites. Can apple create a way to block Calendar invites from unknown people?

Unwanted Spam Shared Photo Album Invite From Chinese Gambling Web Site.

One day later I also received an invite to share a photo album from a similar but not exactly the same type of email address which is a mix of numbers and letters. The invite is constantly at the top of photos unless I either accept it or decline it. If I decline it, the sender will know I declined and could attempt to send new spam. Can you guys create a way to block photo album invites from unknown people?User uploaded file

Thanks.

This will indeed prevent the spam invitations from coming in.

Apple however needs to figure out who/what/where these spam invitations are coming from and "release the hounds", or figure a way to allow invitations from only our contacts.

I personally use both the photo sharing with my family, and the calendar sharing with my personal business. Turning these off prevents the spam, but also kills a valuable feature that I use on a regular basis.

Not shooting you down touch84, still a great solution for those who don't use these features. 🙂
