Apple Loops not showing in FCPX 10.3

I've upgraded to FCPX 10.3 and am getting a handle on the new layout (I would have preferred the track zoom slider still on the main view but I'll get used to it.)

The main thing is that the loops in Logic Pro X, GarageBand and Jam Packs that used to show in the audio browser in 10.2 are not showing in the Photos and Audio Sidebar. They're all still there in Finder in their folders as shown.

How do I get them recognised in FCXP 10.3 in either the Logic Pro X, Garageband or other folders in the sidebar?

Any assistance is appreciated.

I am sorry that you still haven't been able to solve this.

When you send feedback to Apple, they usually do not respond, unless they need further information. This does NOT mean they don't read it. They do.

As to copying files: you have to make sure that the folder path is exactly as the software expects it.

"/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Final Cut Pro Sound Effects" is the location of the sound effects.

In particular, as GeeD had already told you, the "Final Cut Pro Sound Effects" must be inside the "Apple" folder, not beside it.

Thanks Luis,

As noted above the linked "Customise views" Customize views in FCPX 10.3's Photo/Audio Browser above referred to using

Mac HD>Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Final Cut Pro Sound Effects.

rather than

MacHD>Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple>Final Cut Pro Sound Effects

as you kindly spelt out.

The next thing though is that I don't have all the loops.

I have Final Cut and iLife, but don't have Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro showing, which were there in FCPX10.2.

Would I have to move these around to get them to show, or perhaps rename the folder to "Sound Effects"?

I appreciate the assistance of the Apple Community here.

Hi GeeD

I double checked and you're right along with Luis.

The confusion is that the linked "Customise views" Customize views in FCPX 10.3's Photo/Audio Browser above referred to using

Mac HD>Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Final Cut Pro Sound Effects.

rather than

MacHD>Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple>Final Cut Pro Sound Effects

Thanks for your input.

I'm not keen on duplicating 25-30GB of loops/music/sound effects. I'm looking for a solution to match 10.2x and prior functionality.

All data and downloads have been done via Apple defaults, not sure why this hasn't carried through to the 10.3 release.

I notice that in your screenshot you have a 'Final Cut Pro Sound Effects' directly in the 'Apple Loops' folder whereas in your first post it was in the Apple Loops / Apple folder (which is where it is on my machine). was it moved or do you have the original one as well? Might be significant.

Geoff.

Hi thanks for the reply. I created the "Final Cut Pro Sound effect" folder and copied stuff in as suggested in the link higher up. The "Apple Loops/Apple" folder is still there. It still hasn't helped.

I've sent a comment to Apple directly but there's be no response. :-(

I found the answer. I/You need to move the folder to within the "Final Cut Pro Sound Effects" folder.

In above I copied the "Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro" folder into the "Final Cut Sound Effects" Folder and it showed up under the Effects browser.

I have my "Angry Angst Short" back!!

I guess if I move the Jam Packs in there they'll show as well; at least the .caf files.
