Auto Capitalization with Keyboard

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 10 on my iPad Pro, when the "Smart Keyboard" is attached, almost every app auto capitalizes every sentence, any entry into an empty cell on a Numbers spreadsheet, any line on a note, etc. This didn't used to happen and it makes the keyboard almost unusable for me. It is NOT the case when the keyboard is not attached.

I've tried all the settings in the keyboard section (auto-capitalization, auto-correct, cap lock) individually and in various combinations and nothing seems to work.

The only way to prevent the iPad from placing an initial capital letter in the spreadsheet cell or at the beginning of a line in note ,etc. is to press the shift key immediately before typing the letter. This has to be done each time.

Does anyone know a way to stop this or is it bug in the latest update?

Note that as I type this post, I am not having to capitalize the word at the beginning of any sentence as it is doing it automatically. That is even though I have auto capitalization and auto correct both turned off.

Thanks,

Mark
