Ecobee "no response" on HomeKit.

I've bought an ecobee thermostat and was working perfect until this past weekend. All of a sudden apple Home app won't recognize it. I had to re pair it and worked for a couple of days. Now again, it doesn't work.

The ecobee works fine with its app but there is no integration with apple HomeKit.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delay.

This is what I have from ecobee support.

It helped me but I would like to be connected to the 5GHz network instead of the 2.4.

Hope this helps the rest with the same problem.

Hello Bruno, thank you for contacting ecobee Support.I am really sorry for the inconvenience. If you are having Homekit issues, please follow these steps in order to correct the issue:*VERIFY YOU ARE ON THE SAME 2.4GHZ BAND OF YOUR WIFI AS THE THERMOSTAT BEFORE STARTING PROCESSStep 1: Remove Thermostat from HomeKit
  1. Open your Apple Home app on the iPhone
  2. Tap and hold on the ecobee until new options appear
  3. Select Details, “Remove Accessory”, and the ecobee will be removed from your HomeKit network.
Step 2. On the Thermostat, make sure the thermostat is not paired to HomeKit
  1. Go to the menu on the thermostat
  2. Scroll down and press 'Settings' and then press 'Reset'
  3. If the thermostat is still connected, Press 'Disconnect from HomeKit'
After you have verified that the thermostat has been removed from Homekit, Reboot the thermostat by taking it off the wall and re-connecting it. Please also reboot the router and your iphone along with any other apple device such as ipad or Apple tv on the same icloud account.Step 3. Re-add your thermostat in Home app
  1. Open the iOS Home app
  2. Click on the Add accessory button
  3. Select your thermostat and follow the pairing steps
Please follow the above mentioned steps and reply back with outcomes after checking if issue still persists.I would also encourage you to send us any screenshots for any error messages or irregularity in operation that might come across during troubleshooting the issue.

I'm sort of having the reverse problem; Home app works, ecobee's doesn't. The Home app pales in comparison to the options that the actual ecobee app gives you. I've found a thread elsewhere that suggested opening ports on the wireless router to help with the problem … and I thought it had for a while. But I think the common thread of where I start to have troubles is using my Apple Watch (maybe just the Home app in general?) instead of the ecobee app on my phone to make quick changes like just turning off the thermostat for a bit. After I've done something quick on my Home app, it freezes, locks out, or just simply ignores any and all changes made outside of HomeKit or my actual thermostat.

Last time I had this problem I took an entire afternoon to troubleshoot and the only thing I could do is do a system reset on the thermostat and go back to re-setting it up. Who can justify doing this every single time theres a problem!? I noticed that when looking at the details of the internet connection, it says 0% even though the router is literally 5 feet away. I put it up on my guest network, and it worked perfectly. Problem is, I have every other HomeKit connected device on my main network. Ridiculous.

Having same problem, I can pull it off the wall and after re-boot it'll show for awhile...or if I leave the network and I'm on Verizon it'll go No Response, but I can control both of my EcoBee's from the manufactures app. I have some switches doing the same thing. Have an August Lock and Eve thermostat's that are rock solid. Honestly I think Homekit is still buggy.

Having this issue since getting mine around April. It seems like everyone is reporting same issues.

  1. ecobee loses connection; stops communicating with app, web portal, and/or Homekit
  2. ecobee support points us in a couple directions such as disconnecting the thermostat from the wall, resetting it up, channel selection, etc. essentially giving a band-aid solution
  3. ecobee worka for X amount of time before same issues arrise again.

This is infuriating. I know we are not alone in this, as I think like some of you, have found other threads or forums stating as much. Like all of you, I’ve tried just about everything under the sun to keep mine connected but it always ends up stopping somehow.

One thing i have tried and might explore further:

I can get it to connect and show a good connection with my guest WiFi. This, of course does nothing for my HomeKit. I’ve thought about witching names and passwords of my WiFi networks to see if this will solve my problem.

Im at my wits end with this problem…

Rhaezor - Has this continued to work so far? I'm happy to give my Ecobee and AppleTV a reserved IP if it seems like that might solve the problem.

For now I'm using an Airport Extreme, with a dual band (2.4ghz and 5ghz) network with the same SSID. In general I haven't had many issues with the Ecobee and wifi, but a bit over a month ago it wouldn't connect to wifi at all until I restarted my router. Right now it's connected to wifi just fine (I can access it from my phone) but is showing up as unresponsive in homekit (my homekit enabled lights are showing up just fine though). In general I prefer to leave things on DHCP where I can but if I need to assign an IP to the Ecobee and the AppleTV that's fine. (I'll just need to remember to do it again when I set up my new networking equipment soon).
