Whilst watching a show on DirecTV the apple remote keeps switching back to apple tv on the input. I upplugged the apple tv box for awhile but it keeps doing it all by itself...Help.

Since channel switching is done by CEC over HDMI, if you have unplugged the Apple TV it can't be the Apple TV Remote that is switching channel.
No, the only way I can get it to stop switching back to AppleTV is to unplug it...as long as it is plugged in it keeps switching back. If I tell the AppleTV to sleep, then I cannot change input back to DirecTV.

You may wish to check through the settings on the TV it's self, look for a setting that disables or turns off CEC.
I Have th4 same issue with DirecTV. This seems to have gotten worse recently.
I like that I can use the Apple remote to turn on/off the TV but it doesn't play nice with others. When I turn on DirecTV, the Apple TV usually comes on and I have to switch back to DirecTV.
Now that the AppleTV seems to just randomly switch to itself while watching DirecTV, I may have to turn off CEC entirely.
I've read that CEC is rather buggy in general, not just with AppleTV. Why even provide this feature if it's so buggy?
