Swollen battery Apple Watch

MY Apple Watch battery swelled and is now pushing out my screen. Does anyone else have this problem and know of a solution?

Hi

Apple advises that you should not continue using a damaged Apple Watch, which is also not user-serviceable.

If the issue is not covered under warranty or other Apple policy, then your Apple Watch may be eligible for replacement via chargeable, out-of-warranty service - or via AppleCare+, if previously purchased.

Prices vary by model and region. Apple's out-of-warranty repair prices in the US, for example, are detailed here:

Contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for your Apple Watch to be inspected and to establish your available service options:

Wow, that's a good news. I was unlucky since this issue happened to mine before this announcement and I was slightly out of warranty. I made an appointment in March and was told at the Genius Bar that I can pay $200 for the replacement. I fixed it myself and it wasn't that difficult - but was pretty surprised that Apple won't cover this swollen battery issue. Probably Apple had to collect enough evidence that this is not an isolated user fault issue. This is a good move Apple!

I had the same problem. I looked it up and found this:

https://9to5mac.com/2017/04/28/apple-watch-expanded-swollen-battery-repair-cover age-warranty/

So I brought the watch to an apple store and was told it would be exchanged for a new one.

I got the new one back a week later, and within an hour of wearing it the front popped off again. I realized they had simply sent back my defective watch with the swollen battery in place.

I read the fine print on the note they sent back with the watch, and it says the watch 'isn't working correctly because it has accidental damage'. Which is ridiculous; I've never gotten it wet, it's just over a year old, it has no dents or scratches, and the battery is visibly swollen.

I'm taking it back today, and hopefully this time they will honor the warranty extension.
