Calendar: Remove old invitee addresses

My wife recently got a new business email address. I've removed all instances of her old address (I get nothing when I search my iMac, iPad, or iPhone), but it still appears as an option when I invite her to events. Unfortunately the old address is very similar to her new one and I have occasionally sent the event request to the wrong place. Is there any way I can permanently delete the old email address?

This is only an issue within Calendar, none of the other applications (Mail, Messages, FaceTime) are a problem.

Thanks in advance!

David

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it.

However, when my wife got her new email address, I simply updated her existing entry in Contacts, replacing the old address. Repeated searches of my iMac return no reference to her old address. If I send an invitation to my wife from my iPad or iPhone the old address does not appear as an option, only when I do it from my iMac.

(I know, I should just send invitations from my iPad/iPhone, but I want to understand what's going on!)

All of this suggests that her old address is still hiding somewhere in my iMac, or possibly my iCloud account - I just can't find it!

Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem. Names & email addresses I didn't know (but were from my large workplace) showed up when searching my Calendar. They appeared under People or Invitees in the search results. I finally realized it was due to Events I'd been invited to YEARS ago. Their Invitees included those 'unknown' folks. I deleted or declined the old Events and now all is normal with searches. The problem was in finding the Events! Hope this helps: I spent months searching for hidden files/contents, indexes, LDAP directory services (sometimes used by accounts in Contacts)...

Hey, not sure if this has been solved since its an old post. I was having the same problem on my iphone, an old email address that my wife used at one point kept coming up as a suggestion for an invite. The problem only presented itself when inviting from my iphone, if I used my macbook pro, the email address did not show up.

I was able to remove the email address from the suggested invitees by opening the calendar app, clicking on the "Calendars" link in red at the bottom. Once in there I unchecked all the selections that add things to my calendar. Like Gmail, Work, Calendar, Home, Family, Facebook Events, etc...

I then went to create a new event, the old email address no longer came up as a suggestion. I went back and rechecked all the boxes that were previously checked and my calendar was repopulated with all the expected events, but that old email address is no longer a suggestion for newly created events.

Hope this helps.

You can delete caches , cookies , saved application contents from user library ~/Library , also delete address Book plist , in preferences folder > com.apple.addressBook.plist

User uploaded file

Can search in pending events , temporary file , incoming if any thing is found right click & delete to trash , restart & empty the trash .

Thanks again, however, I've done both of those things multiple times and still see the offending email address. I've also gone through my previous calendar events and deleted all those with my wife's old email. Since it only occurs within Calendar I'm thinking there must be a hidden (or at least behind the scenes) contact list that is associated with Calendar that has gotten corrupted or something. Problem is I don't know where to look!

You are absolutely correct, tygb has made a number of excellent suggestions, and I appreciate yours as well.

I really hate to say it, but even after trying all the above suggestions (some previously, most more than once), I still have the same problem. When invite my wife to a Calendar event I still see her old email address. To be clear, I see her new one too, but for the life of me I can't figure out where the last remnants of her old address are hiding out!

Hi ,

Open contacts from launch pad or applications select the incorrect mail and right click on it and click on delete card . So . The incorrect mail id is removed from contacts .After that you can add correct email address in contacts and invite to events but that is not asked in the question so I am not giving the method how to do .

Open web mail > take cursor on top menu bar click on window >click on previous recipients .

User uploaded file

A window appears in search field type incorrect mail address then you can click on remove from list .

To add correct mail id click on add to contacts .

User uploaded file

Now open calendar , click on plus sign to create an event .and send mail to the person having event attached with it .

Unfortunately no. I've tried everything I can think of, including everything suggested above. Very frustrating. I can only conclude I have a corrupted file somewhere on my iMac because this doesn't happen if I send an invitation with my iPhone or iPad. If I had the time I might try to drill down further but, at this point, it hardly seems worth it.

I must say, trying to find a remedy for this problem has been quite disappointing.
