iTunes second iOS 10.1.1 version available?

When I started iTunes v12.5.3.17 today it said there was an upgrade for both my iPhone and iPad to iOS v10.1.1 available. Looking at the iPhone and going into Software Update, it says "iOS 10.1.1 - Your software is up to date".

I stared the "Download and Install" on my iPad just so that iTunes would realize I have iOS 10.1.1 installed, however it when thought the entire install process with my iPad restarting and all. When it was done, iTunes said it had a download for that just updated iPad to install and should it "Install now or Later"?

A reboot of my iMac and a restart of iTunes now shows my iPad is up to date, however it still says "A new iPhone software version (10.1.1) is available for the iPhone “xxxxx iPhone”. Would you like to download it and update your iPhone now?"

So are there two iOS v10.1.1's out there, or did I just install a malicious copy of iOS?

I'm sure this is not the correct community, however I see no other community that seems better.

There is indeed an update to iOS 10.1.1 that was released by apple.

This has been confusing for a multitude of apple users, but once you follow the prompts from iTunes and update your iPhone, you should be all set.

Please try this and let me know if it solves your issue.

Best regards, Trevor

There was a new build of iOS 10.1.1 that was released. The iOS version number is still the same and it is only available through iTunes, which is why your phone still says it is up to date. The build number currently on your phone is likely 14B100 and the new version is 14B150. Usually when the build number is updated and not the iOS version number, there are no changes to iOS itself that will affect users, so you can ignore the iTunes update if you wish.

Cellodav, that does sound familiar and I may have had the same problem. If I did, the problem resolved itself when I restarted something. I can't recall if I just shut down iTunes, reconnected my iPhone and it realized it was applied, or if I needed to do something more drastic like reboot my Mac or the iPhone itself. But what Trevsachs told me did work and looking at my other device I confirmed that it was the difference in the build number as OriginalName022 stated.

After the update, I recieved an e-mail that concerns me, because I did not erase my iPhone. I just did the second 10.1.1 update. Did anyone else receive an e-mail like this? Should I be concern?

“xxxxxxxxxx’s iPhone” was automatically removed as a trusted device from two-step verification for your Apple ID (xxxxxxxxxxx).

Your trusted devices are used to verify your identity when you make changes to your account, sign in to iCloud, or make iTunes or App Store purchases from a new device.

To protect your security, when you erase a device it will be removed from your list of trusted devices. To re-verify your device, sign in to your Apple ID account page, edit Security and verify trusted devices.

If you did not erase this device or you believe an unauthorized person has accessed your account, you should change your password as soon as possible from your Apple ID account page.
