AMDS Not Installing With iTunes 12 in Windows 10
We have a brand new Lenovo Ideacentre at home. Its currently updated to the latest version. I decided to use the PC to store the photos from my iPhone 6 and discovered that it wouldn't install the driver automatically and was therefore undetected.
I googled it and the consensus online seemed to be that installing iTunes first was the way forward as you needed the drivers from them (even though the phone installed automatically on another laptop in the house without this being the case).
I did this and the phone was still undetected. I then read to uninstall iTunes in separate components etc but when I went to do this I noticed that the AMDS (Apple Mobile Device Service) wasn't actually there to uninstall.
It was from this point 3 days ago that I started uninstalling and reinstalling over and over trying every possible thing suggested online only to see the roll back when it tries to install the AMDS. I am actually going quite mad.
I have read the support documents from Apple, and other postings on this forum. Despite following all the advice the problem is still not resolved. Everything I have found is extremely outdated and I am just praying that others find this problem too and it gets resolved! I am thinking it is due to this PC being quite new and therefore never having iTunes on it before? Maybe if its already on there it doesn't matter once you upgrade to Windows 10 as AMDS is already there where this one was pretty much born with Windows 10.
So, the fundamental problem is that the current version of iTunes is not installing the Apple Mobile Device Support. I have followed the steps in how to uninstall iTunes in the correct sequence. I have removed all traces of iTunes and Bonjour. I have searched through the hard disk painstakingly to ensure all Apple files are removed. I cleared the recycle bin, shutdown my firewall and virus protection. The laptop was restarted cleanly, I then downloaded the latest version of iTunes. I ran the installation as Administrator. The installation failed to install the Common\Apple\Mobile Device Support folder with the required files (about a million times).
I tried again several times. I then uninstalled all the apple software and followed this by using Regedit to remove all entries relating to iTunes, Bonjour, Quicktime, Mobile Device Support etc. I then downloaded the iTunes installation file again. Running the install produces the same problem, Common\Apple\Mobile Device Support is not installed.
I have spent 3 days trying to resolve this issue...please HELP!!!
