SmartDisk FireLite 80GB FireWire hard drive - help needed

Hi, 1st time user here to most things apple related..here is my problem

I was using my firelight to back up my harddrive |(now almost full) and using bounceback which was working great.

I decided that what I was better off doing was to use the portable hard drive for just my photo's as I use RAW and was using lots of memory.

I was advised to delete the bounceback software and now my Firelight wont show on my desktop..its making a clicking noise but not picking up the icon.

Have I broken it or its there a way to re-set? Please help..new apple user having minor panic!
Thanks a million.

i'd say to re-install whatever software came with the drive. just start over like you've just opened the drive, just be sure not to do anything to erase the drive. re-install your backup software, but just don't use it to bak anything up. just use it so that your computer will recognise the drive. also, make sure that you haven't disconnected the drive without ejecting it first.

not right now... try re-starting your computer if you haven't already...

when this happens with my external (maxtor, but still, it's an external drive), i connect the drive, and if the computer diesn't recognise it after about 2 minutes, I disconnect it, wait a few seconds, and then reconnect it again. i'd repeat this process about 5 times, and then maybe call apple support? or wait for womeone more knowledgeable
