iPhone 7 Plus Matte Black Paint Chipped

I have been using iPhone 7 Plus Matt Black for about more than 6 months with fully covered by a case and full screen tempered glass most of the time. I usulaly open my case once in two days to wipe the dust off from the phone. Until a week back when I take off the casing, and notice there is major chipping on both the sides of the phone body. At first I thought it must be something sticked to my phone. I try to wipe it using microfibre cloth as usual. Until I look closely it is the metal part of the body. It seems that the black anodised paint had been chipped off from the phone body. I am really disappointed with what happen to the phone because I was using it very careful.

I tried calling the Apple Customer support and they told me that it is not covered under warranty since it is under cosmetic damage. i have beeb using apple products from past 10 years from their ipod shuffle to macbook. I never faced any issue like this. It is so humiliating and embarassing for me to take off my apple iphone 7 out of my pocket to make calls. As, it looks like a cheap dummy phone. I was going around apple forums and found that it is happening to lot of iphone but i havent seen something similar to my phone. I don't know what to do with my iphone but seems like i will have big trust issue with Apple products now on.

I live in Spain and I have the same problem. My iPhone is always covered by the Leather Case and two or three weeks ago I detected the paint of my iPhone 7 Plus was chipped.I went to the Apple Store and talked with the Genius. He said mi iPhone worked right and the paint chip wasn't covered by warranty because it was cosmetic damage. I don't agree with this point of view and I think that this problem it has been caused by manufacturing defect. I think Apple shou be responsible for these incidents and replace the affected iPhone.

My iphone 7 128 gb matte black less than a month old and the paint has chipped off near the volume buttons. Also the paint has formed some kind of tiny bubbles at both the bottom of the sides where you grip the phone (not clearly visible on picture) and looks slightly rougher.

I haven't dropped it or done anything. There is no sign of scratch or anything. Just the chipping of black color.

It happened suddenly. I just noticed today.

I am very dissapointed with apple. This has gotten me to question apples quality and my future loyalty to them ☹

I bought a IPhone 7 Plus black mate with a case from the site and always used the case.

On the back of the phone several white marks turn up.

Is this cover by the guarantee?

I'm worried about my Matte Black phone now which I've only had for 10 days. It's also had battery issues that I can't seem to remedy? Apple Support recommended that I talk to Sales about the shipping issue. So far my Matte Black phone hasn't chipped or peeled but the issue was visitble on my sim trey at the Apple Store and I don't want this to be an issue in the future so I angling to talk to sales!

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM TOO!! iPhone7plus JackBlack, the Silent mode switch, half of the paint chipped off, i need to use a MarkerPen to colour it from time .... feels like i'm using some cheap phone from China when i've paid so much!!!

I have the same issue with my Iphone 7 plus in matte black before, it started chipping on the back portion near the apple logo the 1st week I've used it and and on the 2nd week the speaker grill and the corners of the volume button chipped as well. I ended up selling my phone and bought the rose gold color. So far, my rose gold iphone 7 plus did not chip. Using it for 1 month already. from the philippines.

Given that so many of us are facing this problem, does anyone know how this can be escalated somewhere to force some kind of action/response? It is really not fair for us to pay so much for such a premium product and having Apple tell us it's cosmetic damage when it's not.

I've also had the same issue with my phone. I have used the apple case from the moment I took the phone out of the box and can see the paint has started to chip.

I'm not sure about you guys, but in Australia we have consumer protection laws that would protect us from these kind of things, and I plan on contacting apple about this.

The Same Issue In my iPhone 7 Matte Black too... It Just been around 4 Months old at the Top, so color has chipped out it looks so Bad Never Tought that Producut from Apple Will have this Issue... After paying Huge Amount, If this are the issues it is quite unexpected, I want Apple to Look over this issue and help me and other users to Fix. Apple cant say it is a Custom Damage Few instants it Might be But not for all. There is some problem with the Material which Apple have Used to Cover its Body part. Hopefully this will be taken into Consideration

So then we just have to contributing with not buying iphones with paint on anymore, and stick to the fact that Apple dont have the knowledge to make proper quality, especially when they on top of it arrogantly deny it...

I have the same issue, especially around the speaker grill, the color chipped off where there is clearly no sign of use anywhere around, plus the phone was always in a case from day 1. Chipped off about 20 days after I got it. That is really not a sign of quality here, and I will also certainly not buy a pen to cover this. Apple should recognise the matter and offer a solution here.
