Can I remove the "AM" and "PM" from the result of a TIME formula?

I have a very simple TIME formula for a spread sheet. I am not interested in the AM or PM designations, I just want the result to show that it is now 5min past the original time. The cells for these times are small and I would like to keep them that way. The AM/PM part is causing trouble for me.

My formula is thus: TIME(HOUR(A),MINUTE(A)+5,0)

My original time is entered without the AM/PM but the result includes it.

Any way to stop this?

Format as 24hr.

Enter 'times' as 1:00 to 12:59

Enter durations as (eg.) 35m

Formula in each cell of column C: IF(TIMEVALUE(A+B)>0.541666666666667,A+B−0.5,A+B)

Sample results:

0.541666666666667 is the timevalue for 1:00 PM. If the timevalue of the entered time plus the entered duration is less than or equal to that, the Date/Time result of A + B is returned and displayed as the time part in 24 hour format. If the timevalue of the result of A + B is greater that that, 12 hours is subtracted from the Date/Time value and the time part of the result is displayed in 24 hour format.

NOTE THAT the result is useful for display only, and cannot be used in further calculations unless a reverse conversion is done to restore the 'displayed' value to the actual Date/Time value from which it was calculated.

Hi Trair,

from your original post:

Please reply with a screen shot showing the original time and the Data Format

Just a small part of your screen (command shift 4 and drag). Full screen shots (command shift 3) are often difficult to read.

See this User Tip by Wayne on how to post a screen shot.
