Colors distorted after sleep (macOS Sierra)

I’m not a Apple Tech, but was the problem occuring with Sierra ? Or since the update, have you try to boot un safe mode to see if you still have the issue. Within safe mode, the’re next to nothing in performance but that should give you a pretty good idea if the problem is indeed software or hardware. I’ve tryied that mode in 10.13.1 and beside having everything slow like ****, the wake up glich was not.

Maybe give it a try.

Start your Mac, press and hold the Shift key until you have the login screen. To exit safe mode, just restart.

I contacted Apple Support on Twitter today and after a series of tests to look for software and hardware issues (test results were perfect), they created a case for me with a case # and as a last step want me to reinstall macOS.

I have also had this problem (Macbook pro early 2015) after updating do Sierra (about year ago). I downgraded back to El Captain and since then no problem at all with colors. So it is Sierra bug, and Apple must fix this.

I was having same problem, but my problem seems to be gone when, I change display settings from

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Display > High Scale

I have checked option in the middle between Default and High Scale

Mine is Mid 2015 Macbook pro with retina display and High Sierra is currently installed on it

Okay, so I installed the new High Sierra update version 10.13.2 and so far, so good. I haven't had this problem since that!

10.13.2 - Just updated and so far so good! I checked several times and haven't faced any issues yet. I won’t celebrate right now though. Let's give it a few days. Lol. Also, let’s monitor other stuff to ensure nothing else is broken! Oh, Apple!

As I said before , there is no problem in safe mode . I'm sure our problem is related to customized GPU driver(like metal in high sierra) . as in the safe mode they using the default drivers .

You guys need to report this issue to Apple. I tried to link this discussion board to the service rep online and they refused to look at it. They said they did not have access and these boards are for the customers. The only way they can be made aware of the issue is to bring it up to them so they can have their engineers look at the problem.

Yeah, exactly the same. I just update 10.13.2, and it seems ok (until now). Any update I will let you all know.

So they just acknowlelge that this is a software issue that they are aware of. Just got the same response by my friend at the Apple Genious bar today. Let’s wait the next update then.

Two things: 1. It happens only with MPB 13, early 2015 machines, 2. There are reports dating back to 2016 complaining about the same issue, but most users experiencing the distortion since the introduction of High Sierra.

There seems to be a number of High Sierra users experiencing this issue. It's believed to be due to the new metal 2 graphic system. Definitely a software issue. Hopefully a patch From Apple should fix this.

distorted color on MacBook pro 15" appears after sleep as specs of color on pictures & black background in some cases. I found that shutting down & restarting after 10 min resolves the problem till next awake from sleep.Had ElCapitan b-4 with no issues.
