Colors distorted after sleep (macOS Sierra)

Hi all,

I'm currently on macOS Sierra (10.12.2 bèta (16C41b)) on a Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) even though I've opted out of the bèta program, but that isn't the issue here 😉

Whenever I open my l laptop and get out of 'standby mode' my colors are distorted. There are pink/purple lines all over my screen. It is not a hardware issue I believe, because when I scroll the distorted colours move along with it. I'll try and make a picture of it but it dissappears most of the time after 5-10 seconds.

Anyone else having this issue and/or knows how to resolve this?

Kind regards,

Robin.

I was getting similar behavior with 10.13.1 upon wake from sleep or simply by putting display to sleep and on again.

A picture of the boot apple with the progress bar in weird colors for a brief moment.

I was hesitant to re update my personnal MacBook to High Sierra since my downgrade to Sierra for my job (software issues now resolved).

Still good, without any gliches ?

And you see that weird pattern of rectangles for a fraction of second. So basically no artefacts on the main display with the latest update (10.13.2) but still a glitch using external display. We are half way here. And since this is a MacBook Air that doesn’t have a discreet GPU, it seems that the theory that is floating around, hence a AMD or Radeon issue, is not relevant.

I was asking the graphic card since they are several discussions thread in the developpers section stating that this is probably a problem related to those who have computer with anything but Intel Iris card (AMD or Nvidia brand). Apple call those card « discreet GPU » to response to the question previously asked.

But this is not the case since I have myself a Intel Iris only in my MacBook and I was experiencing the wake up glich. However, I did not tested it with a external monitor of some sort.

Yes and i am getting frustrated. Called apple support again today and the product specialist just shut me down from the onset. Telling me that my case has been decided by apple already. They are not replacing my MBA. My MBA according to them is within acceptable working condition. They say that if it passes the diagnostics, then nothing is wrong even if i experience all of these things we are talking about. They don’t even acknowledge its a software issue.

I’m not a Apple Tech, but was the problem occuring with Sierra ? Or since the update, have you try to boot un safe mode to see if you still have the issue. Within safe mode, the’re next to nothing in performance but that should give you a pretty good idea if the problem is indeed software or hardware. I’ve tryied that mode in 10.13.1 and beside having everything slow like ****, the wake up glich was not.

Maybe give it a try.

Start your Mac, press and hold the Shift key until you have the login screen. To exit safe mode, just restart.

Thanks @FredericBegin. No worries. yeah, I'm just thinking this glitch may somehow affect the hardware in the long run. I'm no techie either so correct me if I'm wrong. I really do hope this thing is just a glitch and if it's just a glitch then fine with it. as long as my device is physically fine...I'm fine with it. since the glitch on the screen only happens during wake up it doesn't really affect me when working on something.

Hi,

I was having same problem, but my problem seems to be gone when, I change display settings from

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Display > High Scale

I have checked option in the middle between Default and High Scale

Mine is Mid 2015 Macbook pro with retina display and High Sierra is currently installed on it
