How do I fix Apple Pro Mouse's erratic behavior?

When moving my mouse in one direction the pointer moves anywhere but in that direction, sometimes disappears or freezes and can only be moved again after unplugging and plugging it back. I read somewhere to increase the pointer size which I did: made no difference to the problem. The mouse is plugged into the back USB port of my clean running Mac Pro, lots of memory and space. I tried other USB ports in the Mac Pro and my Extended Apple keyboard. It has the same problems with an Apple 3 button mouse I also tried. Please help.

This "It has the same problems with an Apple 3 button mouse I also tried." would indicate the problem is due to electrical interference. Bluetooth operate in the 2.4 GHz band and there are many sources of interference.

Thank you lllaass for your reply and link.

Studying that article I am thinking this does not apply to my setup. My early 2009 4.1 Mac Pro does not have USB 3 plus all my wired keyboard and Apple mouse came with my Mac Pro. I do have a wired 3 TB USB external WD Elements drive attached which I purchased in 2011 (pre USB 3, I believe). I will try and locate the manual to check the specs.Thank you for your input.

I thought you were using Apple's new BT Magic Mouse 2.
