Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.1), Mac mini (Late 2012)
Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.1), Mac mini (Late 2012)
helped me
sudo mkdir -p /Users/Shared
sudo chown root:wheel /Users/Shared
sudo chmod -R 1777 /Users/Shared
Solved it for me. Was simply missing this folder it would seem!
Very happy :-) !!
i'm also having the same problem. but it only occurs on *some* user accounts on my mac. also, if i create a new user account, it doesn't work on that, either.
if i try to sign in to imessage or facetime: 'an error occurred during authentication'
Same problem on Sierra. I can't believe this looks like I was reported over a year ago and still is a problem?
I can't sign out of iCloud because find my mac is enabled, and it won't accept my password. The only response I get is "The action could not be completed."
[accidental duplicate]
Did you do anything in particular that might have jump started that?
This does not work for me as it will not allow me to log out of iCloud. It asks me to disable Find my Mac, which requires the Apple ID Password. Sam msg: This action could not be completed. Try again
Well this is disheartening knowing that this has been happening all year, I am currently facing the same issue and I have changed my password so many times and it’s still an issue.
After I click on “Keep a copy” it asks for Apple ID password again, and it says it’s wrong when it’s not.
This looks to be a bug. I have been working to get this resolved. I can login to the cloud from their web portal fine. However, this same thing keeps popping up on my computer, and it just returns this every time I try to authenticate. Very Annoying!
Summarizing, to be sure:
- System Preferences > iCloud, you are logged in and can't sign out
- You can login at www.icloud.com
- You can't login to the App Store
When do you actually get the window "Enter your password to setup iCloud"?
Open the following applications and check if you're logged in with any Apple ID, if so, log out: iTunes, App Store, iMessage, FaceTime and Game Center
Then try first post from John Galt again.
Hello Cavemees,
All of the above is correct. This seems to effect many more people other than myself and Cre8iveSense. This prompt to login seems to happen 3 to 5 times a day. It seems sporadic. Is this logging out of everything on the computer something that has worked for someone? I am willing to do it if we know it will resolve the issue. However, I am concerned that I will not be able to use these applications and then really be in a pickle.
This has to be a bug of some kind. I was hoping to get their attention here and I assume there are many others with this issue. It still pops up many times a day for me and I am not able to login with my ID to this computer to do anything but my account works fine everywhere else...
I am having the same problem. Spent a long time on the phone with Apple support and they basically said they are getting lots of instances of this. I can log into ipad, iphone, Macbook etc. but anything on my imac says action cannot be completed - try again. Support basically said they do not know what it is, they have left it with their engineers but will probably take a week to get some form of answer. Had to upload screenshots.
Feel palmed off to be honest.
Hey man, I called them too and they said I would have to format my machine!!! I ignored that and I am glad that I did... For whatever reason it just started working like 2 days ago.... I did nothing.... So perhaps they are fixing it on their end on a per case basis?
