macbook pro 2016 with touchbar battery issue

I have macbook for 3rd day and charged it ~2nd time. battery is living for 5-6 hours of browsing the internet on full brightness. When I just charged Mac it showed me 4:30 hours of work. also remaining time is changing(for example right after the charging it showed me 4:30 hours left, after some time it's showing 5 hours left) is it normal battery life? How many hours does model without touchbar living?

Unfortunately I couldn't insert screenshot of time remaining, so here is that info:

Time remaining right after full charging - 4:38 hours

coconutBattery info after ~10 minutes of using

According to the tool SSDReporter the ssd within the MacBook Pro with Touchbar does not support any useful S.M.A.R.T. attributes.

SSDReporter tracks SSD lifetime by observing the health attributes #202, #226, #230, #231 and #233. Most recent SSDs support at least one of these attributes. Sadly some of Apple's own SSDs do not include these important health attributes. In this case SSDReporter falls back to using the also-valuable attributes #5 and #173. If only attribute #5 is supported you'll see '{low-accuracy!}' appended to the SSD status information to signify that the health information is inaccurate. If your SSD supports none of these 7 attributes, it is not supported by SSDReporter.

I will take it back to Apple you have 3 months online support and one year warranty .Just make an appointment with the nearest Apple Store to you and go there tell them what your problem is.

But as for your short battery life call support and open a case so an Apple engineer will get involved and try fixing your problem or replacing your Machine as mine was replaced but I am still having a battery issue and Apple engineer is working on it to resolve my problem.Hope this is helpful to you and good luck wish you the very best and hope that your MBP will get fixed and you will be happy and not disappointed as me in the beginning.

How'd you go with the replacement ones? Any changes?

I'm the same boat as you, went from an old 2011 MacbookPro to the new 2016 with TB. I am a professional sports photographer and work in the field. With the 2011 I could manage a full game on one charge even right up to my new purchase. With the exact same workflow and software I'm barely making half time with the 2016. Atrocious.

Ok I called Apple support and after about a month they decided that there is a problem so they asked me to send it back and after a few days I got a replacement . But the replacement did the same and I called Apple owned a new case and till now I am still dealing with a senior advisor where he gets all his info from annApple engineer. So far nothing is getting better I will post more as soon as I get more info . I asked him if nothing could be done I would like to have my money back and return the computer where I did not buy from Apple bought it from an authorized dealer . Will see what if nothing could be done as the advisor told me that I should get up to 10 hours and I am intiteled to get 10 hours as Apple advertise .

Will keep you posted

No where does it say that it should be dim . Do not listen to them I tried it with a dim screen and restored my machine and it is still doing the same . Do not listen to them ! Ask him then why it is done to be bright ? Even if you dim it to 12 clicks as they say you can hardly see the picture , just keep fighting as I do since my 13" was $2200 16gb 512 go etc is way too expensive for a dinky mac with a touch bar . The advisor told me that I have all rights to get up to 10 hours no matter what . Friend each advisor will try to pretext Apple and give you a deferent story , took the first and the second one to the Apple Store to be tested but the store did not tell me anything and the advisor said normal . But they know as maybe millions or buyers has this problem . If you google it you will see that you are not the first and the last .

I bought a 15" and a 13" and they both did the same , the 13" without a touch bar and it did less than 5 hours as the one with the touch bar that I own. You have to fight for your rights as I am doing . And will fight till I win. Or go to a class action .Good luck , hope its hells

I had the same issue as most here. 3 month old 2016 tbMBP 15" that wouldn't hold a full charge for more than 5 hours even sitting idle. I contacted customer support and made an appointment with the Apple Store. After a few minutes they concluded I had a "combined battery test error (-3)". I will be getting this fixed this week and will update on the progress.

NYMunky,

Did you get your MacBook Pro 2016 to work properly? I have the same problem and when I turn it off the battery keeps draining. I already took a technical assistance and changed the battery (which is integrated with the top case) but I turned it on yesterday and it continues the same thing. I called Apple Support and they asked me to reinstall MacOS. That's where I researched and got to your post. So, did your attempt work? Is your macbook back to normal?

best regards,

I am having this exact same issue with a 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. At first I thought it may have been a problem from having used Migration Assistant, so I wiped the machine completely and started fresh, reconfiguring from scratch (which took me an entire day since my setup is complex). I am not running the screen at full brightness, but I still get an estimated charge of 4:30 immediately after disconnecting from power at 100% charge.

It seems just about any software that I need for my daily tasks (Atom, Brave browser, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) drains the battery immediately upon launching (just launching Photoshop usually results in a 1% drop in charge indicator) and I have yet to maintain a charge for longer than 5 hours since purchasing the machine.

I'm pretty upset about this, as it is impractical for me to constantly be attached to a power source (that's what a desktop machine is for!) and this is literally half the advertised battery life for this machine!

I have the same problem with a fully loaded MacBook Pro 13 with touch bar. Not sure if it's my particular computer or it is a general situation. Never got the advertised 10h, not even close. Roughly 5-5.5h on a full charge, using only Safari and/or Microsoft Word with brightness at ~60%. Will call support later.
