2016 macbook pro 15" with touch bar poor battery life

I did a fresh install too. I am nervous about this HUGE purchase I made, fully loaded MBP that cannot outlast my 9 year old iPod for battery life...

You're lucky to have gotten a good machine. My battery life on the base 15" config is anywhere from 7-9 hrs depending on what I'm doing. I actually want to exchange my machine for your config since it's only $4-500 extra and I've already spent $2,600 for this. Perhaps some batches of certain configs have worse battery life than others. At least the 15" battery life is much better than the 13" TB models. Those have serious problems with 49 Wh compared to 76 Wh on the 15" models. They should have kept the same battery specs as the previous gen even though Skylake is more efficient. No need to make the machine so thin. Hopefully as the dies keep shrinking, Apple will be able to increase the battery capacity unless they continue to slim down the machines.

It's not finished indexing yet, why not wait until it has.

If you have battery or other technical issues with 2016 MacBook Pro take it to the "Genius Bar" at Apple Store for diagnosis.

Mine had a voltage problem and had to be returned.

Indexing since 1st December? I can't see the process running in Activity Monitor, so it's suppose it's finished.

The process is called mdworker or mds, are either (or both) of them running, if not take it back.

Both 0% right now 😉

Then indexing is complete, take it back.

I had same problem with my MacBook Pro late 2016, 15" 2.6GHZ 1TB. With battery for 100% charged I only get about 5:20 hrs while only having Safari opened. In the past week I consistently got only about 5 hrs of battery life. Then I read on Reddit the tip to reset the SMC (see Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support). After this simple procedure the battery indicator shows more than 10 hrs of remaining battery life when at 100%. So this seems to have solved the problem.
