Sound Balance is not centered

Hi,

after updating to Sierra I noticed, that the sound balance is not centered.

The guy in this article describes the exact same issue.

When I center it and restart my Mac its the same. Audio is always reverting to left channel.

Sound Balance Bug

My specs:

Macbook Pro Retina 15'' from Late 2014.

2,5 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

macOS Sierra 10.12.1 (16B2555)

I am also using a DAC:

FiiO E10K Olympus 2

Hoping for a fix soon.

I tried resetting NVRAM and SMC multiple times - no effect.

I never noticed this behaviour with El Capitan.

Please help!!

Kind regards, Fabian

NVRAM and SMC would not have any effect on this issue, NVRAM controls only speaker volume, not balance. Yes, I know Apple recommends it but IMHO it was a boilerplate response from them.

does it happen without the DAC? Does it happen with external devices? If it does not happen with built in speakers its possible either the software is faulty when the port is used or its possible the external device is not compatible or dominant on one side.

If the device requires drivers make sure they are compatible and up-to-date to what the developer recommends.

Also check

Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/Audio

remove the plist files to the desktop and reboot.
