Has anyone confirmed that a complete hardware replacement fixes the problem when afterwards using the same software as before?

Having the same problem here. No connected devices other than the capsule through wifi.

As it stands now, you have a hardware problem.

Now I'm fairly certain you have an internal hardware fault.

If it is less than 14 days old, return it no questions asked. If longer than that, contact AppleCare or go to an Apple Store.

Because kernel panics are caused primarily by hardware faults and third-party kernel extensions.

You have no third-party kernel extensions and no external hardware.

So, that leaves an internal hardware fault or a very obscure OS or kernel bug which nobody else has experienced.

If it was loaded it would show up in the kernel panic log under loaded kexts.

You don't have a Synology device attached, correct?

If there is something connected, disconnect it and uninstall its software.

If nothing is connected, return the Mac. Don't let them fix it, just return it. It is broken.

If you purchased it in the US, you have 14 days to return it, no questions asked. If you go past that point, you will have to let them try to fix it, over and over and over.

It's only reliable if it actually finds something wrong. If it says its all good, that isn't proof there's no problem.

Uninstall the Synology software and test if you think it is software. According to the panic log, you have nothing installed that will cause a panic.

You can also use Recovery to erase the drive and reinstall the OS, but I think that is a waste of time.

I had this same kernel panic when I let my MBP sleep overnight. I would get like 3 kernel panics over the night. So I decided to call Apple Support after reading this thread, and I was told to boot into Recovery Mode (cmd-option-R when booting), use Disk Utility and run First Aid on the macOS volume. Left my MBP to sleep overnight after that, and I didn't get any kernel panics. You may want to try this solution, but YMMV. I will be leaving my MBP to sleep and monitor the situation in case I was just lucky.

EDIT: After running First Aid, I didn't get a Repair option to repair disk permissions or anything like that, so if you get that, things may be different in your case.

You can dance around the return issue all you want, but if you wait past 14 days, you will have to just dance with AppleCare as they attempt to fix that Mac multiple times, perhaps never actually fixing it.

If you are only getting panics when that specific brand of drive is connected, try another brand to verify it is not the drive.

If you were getting panics with the drive disconnected, then it isn't the drive--it is that Mac. Return it!!!!
