Magic keyboard volume controls

Does iTunes need to be updated to work with the Magic Keyboard?

Macbook OS X El Capitan v10.11.6

Itunes 12.5.1.21


Volume up, volume down, mute buttons do not work.

Play Pause button does work.

Hi tim55407,

I understand that you are unable to control the volume of you Mac using the Magic Keyboard. While it always recommended keeping your software up-to-date, let's have you start with resetting the NVRAM and making sure the function key behavior on your keyboard is set for this functionality. Take a look at the links below for more information.

Keys work as expected using macbook screen and speakers.


Problem starts when macbook is connected with Belkin 4K mini displayport to HDTV cable (video and audio HDMI 2.0).

Audio mixer is not working correctly with magic keyboard audio function keys sending over HDMI 2.0 audio to TV.

Audio mixer seems to think HDMI cable cannot support audio.


Looking for HDMI 1.0 to HDMI 2.0 video/audio patch for keyboard or OS.
