Try doing restart. Press and hold both the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for about 10 seconds. You'll see your screen turn off, continue to hold both buttons, then when you see the Apple logo, you can release both buttons and let your iPhone continue to load.

This really should have been put in the iPhone community area

I had the exact same problem. Your battery is most likely burnt out. You will have to take it to a repair shop

Also have you cracked your screen? Sometimes a broken piece of glass can get into the phone and bust your battery.
