It's an issue with the TSS server. It gives the following output:
Sending TSS request attempt 1... TSS server returned: <html>

<hr><center>Shield</center>
</body>
</html>
Basically, it's on Apple's side. It's NOT an issue with your devices. Just wait a little while for them to fix it.
On line with Apple care for an hour. Removed virus software, no luck. its an ongoing widespread issue. They said try again in a few days.

I just got this error today on my iPod Touch 5th Gen after jailbreaking. Apparently the error is related to having custom firmware? If you see Error 3194, Error 17, or 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build' in iTunes - Apple Support
Is anyone stuck in recovery mode ?download iphone rescue it will get you out , I did mine yesterday cause I kept getting error code 50 but now mine won't boot just on a boot loop ,took battery out tried it still looped , tried to restore and then got error 3503. So maybe try to reboot it if your stuck in recovery mode
Same here...received 3503 on my Ipod touch and then tech support had me plug in my wife's Ipad and now that is stuck too! Was on the phone for 90 minutes and they concluded it was a problem with windows.
From what I have seen with it today, it does seem to be limited to windows. It IS NOT The host files, it is NOT your firewall. It may be on the apple's end after all. I can confirm that it is being looked by Apple in high priority. To the comment of Samsung looking better - perhaps, but do they have awesome support? apologies to everyone in tv land having this error - it is being looked at 🙂 I called in as I was having the issue as well and apple engineering is looking into this -- on the EVE of high sierra (10.13) being released tomorrow, my hypothesis is that it has to do with some sort of activation/ restore server. If I had to guess, I'd be on the lookout for a new version of itunes higher than 12.7 - time will tell! If they get back to me, I will post anything I find.
I've been following this thread for two days. Still no FƲCKS given by Apple! I finally managed to get my iPhone 6S plus updated by doing it directly on the phone. I used iTunes to back it up, but the update to IOS 11 always gave me the 3503 error. I tried it on two different Windows 10 Pro computers. As much money as Apple makes and as tightly locked down their platforms are you should expect nothing but rock solid results. It's not like they have that many platforms to deal with. I'd say someone is not doing their job very well at Apple. I promise to never buy another Apple product as long as I live. As good as they are supposed to be i have had plenty of issues with the many Apple products I've had over the years, probably a dozen or so.
After more than 24 hours without my iPhone, I called my friend with MacBook and finally firmware restore got worked! Apple is a piece of **** and the hole respect I saved for them crashed after that problem I had.

not bricked. are seeing more reports of this error and suspect it has something to do with the update servers. did they gather log files for you on this when you chatted in?

It's most likely an Apple server that's down. All complaints are on the same day. You would think Apple would had have someone working on a Sunday to fix this nonsense.

Yet another try this afternoon succeeded! I changed nothing, so Apple must have gotten their act together. That was a very long 24 hours!
