How do I download a form that I need to fill out on my iPad mini. I have the Pages app but I'm confused as to how to do it.

On my iPad mini I have the Pages app. I need to download a PDF form and fill it out online. How do I do that? WebDAV? Where can I find the server address (web address or URL)? I don't know who's server address it's referring to?!

iPad Mini, iOS 9.3.1, null

That depends on what exactly these forms are. Forms can take many "forms" no pun intended.

You can use your iPad to fill out forms that are presented on a website. For instance if you open this link: There's a form here. you'll find a form to contact Apple Support. You don't need to fill it in, its just an example, but you could fill it directly on your iPad through Safari. This is what's known as a Webform.

If the form you wish to fill out comes in the form of a PDF you must download, then you need some App that can actually help you fill it once its downloaded.

Adobe Reader is able to do it. You would need to download the Adobe Reader App from the App Store on your iPad. Its compatible with all iPads that can at least run iOS 9. Which all iPad Mini's can.

To download a PDF form in safari can be as simple as clicking on a link. Safari should open the PDF directly in itself, but you can use the "Open in..." option once its downloaded to move it into Adobe Reader or some other App to you want to use to complete it.

Once you tap on "Open in...", you will get a selection of options and a list of Apps you can open the downloaded PDF in. After you install Adobe Reader it should appear there as an option to open the PDF in.

Your iPad can read PDF files just fine. But it would be difficult to modify them without some app.

One such app is PDFPen.

(I have no financial interest in PDFPen. I used it on the Mac in previous years, but frankly now Preview on the Mac does everything I need.)

Specifically for tax forms, you might consider TurboTax.

The app is free, however, there are in-app charges to produce anything useful.

(I have no financial interest in TurboTax. I have used the Mac version for many years.)

Pages is a mismatch for this type of exercise.

Thanks for clarifying that the server address means the address of where I got the form. I know it's stupid not to know exactly what a server address is.

I don't think I can even do what I want to do on a mini iPad. Basically, all I want to know is how to be able to fill out forms online. Say like, a tax form you find on the IRS website. My daughter said I should be able to do this with Pages.

Sometimes I can't even find what I downloaded!? What am I missing here? I don't think Adobe reader is compatible with my iPad. I've tried to get it before and it didn't work.

Hi. Just an observation here. Recent pdf forms with internal security may not be compatible with Acrobat Reader on iOS. I tried a form I used recently (SSA 44), and Acrobat said I needed Acrobat DC on a computer.

And a note for the OP. Files you download on an iOS device are stored in the app you downloaded them in or sent them to. Files you download in Safari are temporary only and vanish. An iPad is not a computer, and doesn't work the same way.
