Logic Pro X: Help with odd meters

I'm finding the default behavior of Logic Pro X pretty maddening.

MAJOR PROBLEM: I can't interject clipped grid-sections of a project without knocking sections further to the right of that inserted sections off of their grids. Is there a way to do that without breaking half my composition? Even if I create the new part on the very, very far right where nothing else can be offset by it, then clip the entire grid section out of there, then paste it into the middle of the composition where I want it, it still wrecks everything to the right of the inserted location by pushing the audio off-grid from where it was.

MINOR PROBLEM: Also whenever you change a specific time signature of a bar it decides to change all time signatures to the right of that bar until it hits another bar with a different time signature than one that is similar to the one you changed. Try it out. If you change a section of 6/4 that begins a 12 bar repetition, it will change all the 12 bars, not just the one prompted by where the position of your cursor is. That is also very frustrating.

If anyone knows any way around that behavior then that would be fantastic, it is really derailing my ability to work on some new compositions that I'm coming up with. Please help! The inspiration is dying to these frustrating program limitations!

Here are some thoughts that may help....

1/ make sure the drag mode is set to overlap or no overlap and not shuttle....

2/ If you only want to make a bar meter change

place playhead where you want the bar to change

in the control bar display change the numerator to the new signature ( keep holding the mouse click) and immediately put the time signature back. This will make only a one bar time signature change.
