Please Help....just fell down the stairs with my macbook

Ok so here it is, my new C2D macbook has been amazing, until 10 mins ago I just slipped down the stairs whilst carrying it. It didn't hit the floor and still works, it just makes a really annoying noise when plugged into the AC.

It is like a high pitched scream that womes and goes but is mostly constant. when I unplug the AC it goes away. This has honestly only started occuring since i slipped with it down the stairs. If anyone has any ideas on what i can do to solve this I would be really greatful. The noise is not loud, just really high pitched an annoying.

I have bust up 3 toes, I have ice on them but thanks for asking. As a correction to my above post, it only makes this whine when the ac adapter os plugged in and when the processor is active. When the cpu is at idle the whine goes away. It is never present when only running off of battery. I am miles away from a genius bar so any help you can offer would be greatfullly received.

OK, Have just spent the last hour on the phone to applecare. They say that both my SMC and Firmware are not up to date on my comp which may be causuing the whine when the AC is plugged in and near idle. However my Software update does not pick this up and whrn I try install them manually I am told my comp does not need either of them. Because of this apple care says that I may well be charged to send my comp in as it could be a software issue!

Please help. My SMC verson is 1.13f3 and my boot rom version is MB21.00A%.B00

All tips are apreciated this is my first Mac and i am freaking out a bit. Is the noise I am experiencing just power going into the unit that i have never noticed before?

Sorry about the toes!

OK, with any energy issue, one thing you can try is this: turn off the macbook, take out the battery and unplug the magsafe. Then hold the start button down for a count of 5, until you hear a very unpleasant beep. Put the battery back in, plug in the magsafe, turn it on and see if it helps.

You should also update your firmware when you feel calmer. I don't know if core 2 duo has the same version as my core 2, but my updated version is 1.4f12. When you update, be sure to follow the slightly complex directions about when and how to turn your computer off and on, and be sure you have the computer plugged in when you do it - some people had serious problems when they updated without following the directions.

Let us know what happens.

Many thanks for that. i tried unplugging all power and holding down the power button. I never got a nasty sound and i help it down for a lot longer that 5 secs.

I am unable to update my SMC! Apple care could not help me as to why this is. I download the updater, nd it tells me that the comp does not need the update. But according to my system profiler it does need it. (See my above post) This is my first mac and i dont know what to do next?

Apparently the Core 2 Duos have different EFI and SMC firmware versions from the Core Duos, and the online Apple docs have not been updated to show that. I think you have the latest firmware for your model.

is there any way that you can get to an Apple Store? I am sure they'll be able to sort this out for you. I actually dropped mine on the floor the other day. It bounced but it's ok so far I think.
