MS outlook 2016 and icloud email account

Good day,

I have installed MS outlook 2016 to use with my Office 365 email account. All works fine.

I have also added my @me apple email account to Outlook, but keep getting the following sync message: "Mailbox does not exist" error 1025.

I am still able to send and receive mails from the email account but the sync errors keep appearing.

Any advice or assistance will be appreciated.User uploaded file

I had the same problem. I found out that Outlook was trying to put sent messages into a folder called 'Sent Items' on icloud which does not exist.

To Fix go to Tools -> Accounts and select your icloud account. From there, select the 'Folders' tab.

In the sent items (top of the form) select 'Sent Messages (Server)'.

You may need to move items from the folder that Outlook had stored the sent messages in. In my case it was on the sidebar under Icloud -> Sent Items. Once you do that, restart Outlook and let everything sync again.

I have the same issue, and have contacted Microsoft support from the suggestions from Eric Root. Bottom line, they could not tell me why I am getting this annoying error.

In my case, it seems to be machine-specific, on my iMac. It doesn't happen on my MacBook Air. Also, I went for 24 hours yesterday without this happening, but today it is back. The number of errors generated for each send/receive cycle varies as well, from one up to six. (go figure).

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Sid

Try running this program in your normal account on the iMac, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have had Trend Micro installed for several years, keeping it updated with the latest versions, definitions, etc. The Outlook 365 issue just started a week ago, for no apparent reason that I can see. The incidents of the error message coming up have now jumped to 13 every time Outlook sends/receives per its schedule. This isn't consistent, either, as it took a 24 hour break over the weekend. Tomorrow, it may go back down to 3, or 5, who knows.

I appreciate your input, and wonder if we might have a keychain password/login issue? If others are having this issue, please chime in.

Thanks again.

Sid

The problem continues and has now appeared on both my iMac and MacBook Air. Same error messages, same random number of incidents when Outlook checks the mail. This is obviously an issue between Outlook 365 for Mac and my iCloud account. This does not occur with the Exchange account in Outlook, or with my iCloud account on my iPhone and iPad, that use Apple Mail and not Outlook. OK, don't ask, I use Outlook by choice, but it doesn't work very well with my iPhone as it isn't up to par with Outlook on the computers. The fact this just started little over a week ago tells me something done "in the Cloud" is causing this, since my settings have not changed. Come on, Apple and Microsoft, get this annoying issue fixed.

Mar 9, 2017 7:21 AM in response to sidfromfranktown

I wanted to keep y'all posted on the latest developments with Outlook 365 on the Mac. I can’t explain the weirdness, but it’s interesting. First, I changed the settings back to what Outlook sets up automatically for an iCloud account. It worked fine without the 2015 Mailbox not found error for about a day. Then it started giving me the error, in random incidences. This continued on my iMac and MacBook Air for several days. Then I updated Outlook 365 when prompted by auto update. This did not fix the problem.

I then went to the iCloud web site for mail and tried to edit folders and settings, but this really didn’t work, and Outlook seemed to want to do its own thing when designating folders for managing mail. I also deleted Outlook related keychain items and trashed the Outlook plist from user/library/preferences. I let it do its thing, and decided to see what happens; the errors continued for about two days. Yesterday, the error messages suddenly stopped on their own, without me doing anything in Outlook or in iCloud Mail Web settings.

Today, it is still working without errors. I have no idea why it cleared up on its own. Go figure.

Any thoughts?

Sid
