Hello,
With the new Macbook Pro 2016 (Touch Bar) the keychain became very slow.
Any search query or even clicking on show password, will bring up the spinning wheel. Overall everything takes longer, I'm migrating from a Macbook 12".
Is this related to the use of the new chip with secure enclave, is anybody experiencing the same problem?

I had a little more thinking about this. Since I am convinced that this has to do with the new hardware my guess is that the secure enclave is involved in the root of the problem. The secure enclave is used to store the information necessary when using the fingerprint scanner. This is part of the touchbar element which has it's own processor.
So, I tried disabling the Touch ID stuff and guess what - boom, everything works as expected. So, the current workaround is to disable Touch ID.
Since I use the MBP on an external monitor with a closed lid the Touch ID does not have any value other than gimmick for me and it has troubles reading my fingerprint accurately anyway I don't care too much.
Worst cases Apple can't fix it because the processor used to read out the secure enclave might just be too slow or there is some timeout involved accessing the secure enclave (to save power and reduce heat in that new part of the hardware).
Curious if this fixes it also for you?
I went to the Apple Store and tried searching in Keychain on a bunch of Macbook Pros with Touch ID. I didn't find a single one that was fast, so I wouldn't bother returning.
I tried clean install already; did nothing.

I first got the lag when I upgraded to a new 2017 MBP so annoying, driving me crazzzy
In case anybody is wondering: no, 10.13.1 does not fix the problem. Still the same.
I check the bug report and apple lists the issue still as "open".
Is there still no solution to this?
I just upgraded to High Sierra and it seems better, but still slightly laggy when I'm using the Keychain Access tool. For the autofill in Web forms, it works fine though.
I also have found that it’s now fine for real-time access in Safari etc, it’s just the keychain access app which is still slow, so much more liveable now!
Yes Keychain tools is extremely slow to work with on my Macbook Pro 2016 with touch id. Using High Sierra 10.13.2.
So there's still no fix?

For developers, Keychain can be used far more often than occasionally. it does more than store passwords.
Hey Viablub, Did you get a reply from Apple? I rely on Keychain for all my passwords and I am having this same issue with the 2017.. Really frustrating for how expensive this computer is..
macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Update finally fixes this issue. I was probably a week or two away from selling this MBP specifically for this annoying issue.
