Powerbeats 3 blinking white light

Powerbeats3 never achieve "fully charged" status. When plugged into a power source remains at the pulsating red for hours.

Once unplugged and attempting to power on, indicator light flashes white 3 times and pauses briefly before 3 white flashes again. It is never discoverable under bluetooth devices.

Furthermore, if you hold the power button for longer than 10 seconds and release; it will blink red/white/red/white/red/white a brief pause then 3 white flashes.

I've already tried "resetting" the Powerbeats3 by having plugged into a power source and holding down the power and volume down button for longer than 5 seconds on multiple occasions.

I have yet to implement the firmware upgrade but I will be able to in a few hours. I'm almost positive that this updater will indicate that I'm on the latest firmware as I had just picked these up from an Apple store yesterday and I'll be back to square one.

Is there a solution to this or has anyone ran across this exact same issue? What do the flashes mean?

ℹℹℹℹ🙂 What Tony Surphman said above worked for him , worked for me!! Finally

I plugged the headphones in with charger cord to computer even though they were at 98%, then i held the power button down and the down volume at same time like i was going to reset, then when the red light came on i unplugged the power cord. This fixed my three blinking lights. I then got the continous white flashing lights saying they were ready to pair when i turned them on. I paired them and they are working great now.

I will try to update after a week to see how this does.

The same exact thing happened to me after my long run, with this I assumed that the headphones where malfunctioning because of my heavy sweat. I left them buried under rice for 3 days, since rice is best at absorbing moisture. Fortunately it worked again, It has been working fine ever since, (i've been using it casually and NOT FOR WORKOUTS) Its a enormous disappointment to see these headphones fail at what they're advertised to do (sweat resistant).

I had the same issue, it is because I use mine when I workout and they are now swear proof. The first time it happened it started working after a week after it dried out. The second time it took a monthbefore it started working. Now I constantly wipe my ears out when I workout and never leave my beats in my gym bag. After my work out when I get home I leave them out to dry.

SOLLLLLVVVVEEDDD.

So the exact same problem happened with me, i called apple and they told me to renew them. Since my warranty finished, i was told to pay 100$. Being broke at the moment i decided not to.

What you do is this:

1: Reset the power beats

2: Plug the power beats to the computer and register them

3: keep them on charge for 1 day, 24 hours.

they will start blinking white/red/white/red.

4: take them off, try to turn them on and they wont work at all. wait for couple of hours

5: put them again on charge for half a day and they will start blinking red only

6: at the end of that day, while they are on charge, the light will turn white and they will work again perfectly.

TADAAAA.

My Power Beats 3 have always worked fine. Then a few weeks ago they wouldn't turn on. I'd suppose the problem was the battery if it was quickly being drained prior, but the battery life has always been exemplary. They would show red while charging, then white when fully charged. But they wouldn't run on or show any light.

I looked up support and tried to "reset" them, holding down power and volume down for 10 seconds. After that they just flash Red-White-Red-Off Red-White-Red-Off when plugged in, and nothing when unplugged. I didn't see anything online that said the problem. Apple chat just said to send them in for repair, without telling what the (Red-White-Red-Off) error code meant. The repair fee is the same as buying a pair from Amazon, so I decided to try fixing them myself.

I bought a new battery and soldered it in-place of the original. Before I sealed the housing I plugged them into the computer. The Red charge light came on, and I thought I had it all worked out. I performed a reset just in case, to make sure they headset accepted the new battery. It reset fine, and I plugged it in to charge. I let it charge all night, and check them in the morning. When I checked them, they were back in Red-White-Red-Off flash mode. I've let them charge for a full week, and no luck. I'm back at Square 1 with a new battery, and no clue what the deal is.

Any Ideas?

Hi all,

I know the thread is a bit old but I want to share my experience which might help others.

I had the exact same problem with my Powerbeats3 (3 months old and not heavily used). White light blinking three times and then nothing. Tried resetting them (hold down power and volume - button for 10s) and I was getting red/white blinks and then three whites and nothing after that. Very frustrating.

It drove me crazy and I spent a good couple of days online to find a solution. Although nobody really knows what causes this, it looks like it's something to do with the remote and the battery shutting down in the presence of humidity (sweat, water etc). Although in my case the headphones was completely dry when they starting playing up.

What I did was to put the earphones to charge. After 5,6 hours they completely stopped working. They wouldn't turn on and I wasn't getting any light at all.

I left them to charge for more and then one day later it was still the same.

While the beats were charging the light was red/white and then three reds constantly.

BUT two days later, the light went just white and it all went back to normal! I unplugged them and now they respond to all the controls as they used to!

I know it might not work for everyone but I got the idea of charging them for two full days from some other users that tried it successfully.Hope this helps.

Thanks

This is a known issue that has been reported by many users for over a year now. I had mine for 4 months before they stopped working due to batteries going bad. Luckily they were still under warranty. This is quite frankly UNSAT for a $200 headset. It's simply a terrible product/brand to purchase. I will likely sell product when i get the replacement and buy something else.

For me the solution was that the Powerbeats Solo 3 don't operate in weather below 0 degrees Celsius. They simply shut down until they warm up enough for you to power them on again. They have a built-in function to shut down in cold weather in order to protect the circuitry. It took me three replacement pairs, and realizing that it always happened walking the dog in winter in Toronto, Canada, before I figured this out. Sadly, this piece of information is not clearly provided - especially to Apple's northern customers! :-)

I still love the headphones - I just wish this piece of information were more clearly provided.

Sad news for anyone having this issue and you're out of the one-year warranty. I contacted Apple support, and the only option was to pay $99 plus tax for a repair. According to them, it is the only option, a paid replacement because it has been longer than a year.

I have taken really good care of my powerbeats3 wireless. I only use them to run, for work-outs, or for school. I even keep them in the little plastic case that comes with them. I clean them and do everything I can to keep them in good condition. I feel cheated for paying good money for these headphones, and a little after a year, they brake down for something I did not do.
