iOS News app notifications on Apple Watch will not disable

No. If you look in the Watch app on the iPhone, under the Notifications section, there is a long list of apps where you can click to customize the notifications. There is no News option there. But under that, theres a "Mirror iPhone Alerts From:" section, and there is a News switch there. I have that disabled. My guess is that these Notifications aren't considered "mirrored" so they're slipping between the two preferences.

September 21 2017. STILL have the same problem of News notifications pinging my Watch when I've turned off all notifications on phone and watch. This might not be the immediate/best place to report such problems, but if Apple staff (and I understand they are shorthanded what with Apple's cash flow issues <:) don't monitor this site and report up the chain of command, I'd be very surprised. Apple, your quality control is steadily slipping.

Ditto. Tried all of the above suggestions and still having the issue. I finally went into the news app on the iPhone and turned off every notification for all news services. I'll see if that "solves" it. If they're not coming into the phone, they shouldn't push to the watch.

Yep. This is annoying me too. I don't mind getting these on my phone, but don't want them on my wrist. It seems that I'm getting them mostly from Vox, but it really looks like an Apple News bug for not honoring my Watch Notification prefs. Maybe disabling the News notifications for my iPhone SE will help.

So, apparently you need to turn off the News notifications through the News iPhone app; tap on Favorites, then on the bell on the top-left part of the screen. Then you can individually turn off news channel notifications there. Somehow those notifications and the notifications in the watch are intrinsically connected. I think the problem is that there is not an Apple News specific option in the "Watch" app on iPhone. This is, of course, where you can configure all the Watch settings.

All other Watch apps have their own individual configurations except for Apple News. If you look under "Notifications", there is only an option to mirror notifications for the Apple News app.

So it seems that you can't control the Watch notifications for Apple News unless you mirror your iPhone and turn notifications off there too, which means no notifications at all! I'm guessing this was just an omission and will be updated in future.

Same issue here. Newest Iphone and Apple Watch updates. Tried all of the things mentioned above. Still no Glory.

Apple are you listening? Planning on fixing this soon? $700 iPhone to use my $400 Apple Watch and you can't fix this? Your hardware lives or dies on the Apps you provide to your users.

Did you find any resolution to this!? I have unpaired my watch three times, done everything you have done at least 5x and I am STILL getting notifications. I hate to turn them off totally because I do like getting them to my phone in one place vs. having 100 news apps.

It may help to follow these steps:

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Notifications - toggle the setting for News on and then off again, allowing a few moments in between.

Close the Watch app and then restart both your iPhone and your watch:

• To close the Watch app: on your iPhone, double-click the Home button, then swipe up on the Watch app preview.
• Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first:
  • Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  • Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

I'm having this same issue - I've even tried resetting all settings, unpairing, and I've deleted and reinstalled the News app

Same issue here. I've tried everything suggested and the notifications keep popping up. I was hopeful that the latest update would fix the problem, but nothing has changed. I like the news notifications on my phone, but don't need to be interrupted on my wrist every time I get one!

Didn't work for me. The issue just started a few days ago when I updated to iOS 10.2.
