downloads stop and do not complete how do i fix this?

i have an issue with the mac book pro, no matter what i try to download off the internet it doesn't complete. Most of which are fairly large files that are over 2G. But even small files are starting then just quit. I can download the files off my pc and there is no problem. Same network the only difference is that the os is different. One is the latest and greatest os x and the other is windows 10. It seems the mac can't download diddley. Rather frustrating to have to d/l from a windows machine then move the files to the mac. What is wrong with the mac that it won't d/l files.

Is this a software glitch or just something mac has setup! I need to get the"core audio files" for a software called BFD3 which is 32G and it would be nice if i could do it directly from the MAC. BFD has it's own d/l system and you have to use that to get the files. And it won't work. What can i do with this os to make d/l without stopping?

Other OS

The report looks pretty clean.

There are a number of crashes. You seem to be running Office 2008, which is quite old and *may* not work very well with Sierra, but I can't see how that would interfere with downloads.

I would suspect one of the internet plugins may be involved. You could try uninstalling the Adobe and the Office internet plugins and see if that makes a difference - especially the Office plugin.

You can try logging in to a new user account and see if downloads go through in that account.

Hello,

Also it could be something matter with this:

(Dutch) Indien software updates voor osx niet werken via App-store:

When OSX software updates refused going through via Apple server (Mac App Store).

This could probably lies about a damaged file in your VAR folder the file is located in:

/var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_*

(Dutch) Zorg dat toegangsrechten op write/read staan voor _softwareupdates en zorg dat deze user er maar 1 x in staat in “toon info” vervolgens kun je hem resetten door het volgende commando in terminal:

Be sure to give the good access rights by give it write/read rights. and see in 'show info' that the user; _softwareupdates is in it once. Than give the next command in terminal what will reset it:

Code:

It worked for me, and updates proceed via the mac update server for OSX and everything goes OK! (hi!)

A x-tra possibillity if some of what I've told before doesn't work.....

Try this:

In terminal, either copy and paste the following, or type it in. (the last character is a lower case L.)

Code:

sudo softwareupdate -l

Enter your admin account password when prompted. This runs the command line Software Update app (which is what the App Store application is actually doing) and should provide a little more detail. The lower case L only lists the updates available. If you want to go ahead and install all the updates that it finds, you'd enter:

Code:

sudo softwareupdate -ia

again entering your password if prompted, and restarting the computer when prompted.

You may also want to enter this:

Code:

defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate

This error sounds as if your computer may not be looking at the default Software Update Server, and this last command will report which server it's set to use.

What software are you using for the download? Safari? Chrome?

What exact version of the OS?

And, more importantly - most of these problems stem from other software, which we have no idea what may be. Every system is different.

From experience, I'd suspect an antivirus, some "cleaner" or perhaps adware interfering.

I suggest you run Etrecheck on your mac and post its report here, so we can see what may be causing the trouble.
