I added a new user as an administrator. Now I want to delete this account. In System Prefs Users & Groups, after I unlock the lock, I cannot select the admin account under "Other Users," and the "minus" – is grayed out. I would have the same question if I wanted to downgrade the account to a standard user.
I had given automatic login status to the new admin, so I couldn't do anything until I logged in as that admin and logged out before restarting the system. Once I was back in control, I could delete the new profile.
Are you logged in as an administrator yourself?
Of course. My account is the original admin account. Otherwise I would not have been able to add a user.
Is that account logged in via Fast User Switching?
