No, that logic is not flawed or failed. But I certainly agree with the rest of your statement which is why you need to contact AppleCare. It is also what battery use situations are so difficult to diagnose.

Hi everyone,
I did have exactly the same problem. I don't know if it started directly after the upgrade to 10.2, but a few days ago my phone started to drain the battery fast. I couldn't figure out what was differet from before. I didn't do anything different and it's the same hardware.
Then yesterday I found a solution. Turn off Siri!
After I've done that, the phone works as before. Hardly any battery consumption at all. Did a charge last evening and I still got 94% battery left after almost 15 hours.
So my advise. Turn off Siri if you don't absolutely need her.
This is from Page 4 of this thread. Yes others are having a issue with Siri. The problem appears more random on which app gets corrupted. Could be part on the installation code causing failures with "certain apps", which would explain why some do and some don't. There are countless possibilities that could explain this better than "It's not the 10.2 version causing this".
So that is 2 people having a Siri problem. Would be interesting to see if theirs said Siri Audio. Mine doesn't read that way, it just says Siri.
So 2 people out of about how many millions have had this issue. Maybe the person on page 4 called AppleCare.
Last 24 hours it's down to 29%. It was lower, then I turned Siri on again last night to test battery drain (and left on overnight), and although it wasn't the 10% per hour I had, it still took the battery down 3-4 times faster than pre 10.2 did.
As I posted, if Siri Audio (mysterious in itself) is showing 29% of your battery that is way too high. Something is amiss and may have been triggered by the 10.2 update but it isn't something that the vast majority of users are having.
Actually, I'm using iPhone 6 with iOS 10.2 installed.
And suddenly my battery problem started
It was like I charged my phone before going to sleep to 100% but after I woke up in the morning charging was at 16%. And by this app called Battery Life it said that my battery is in good condition. So, is this iOS problem or the Battery..
Please help !!!
Hi Verndog-08, I don't think my iPhone's battery problem is in anyway linked with the use of Siri. I must admit I never activated Siri since I bought my unit in 2015. I also don't think it's anything to do with using the updated operating system that most have mentioned.
I made an appointment with a MAC Power Centre in my country to have it diagnosed and if batter is indeed the problem then have it replaced. For both diagnostic process and battery replacement I will need to pay around US$ 100. I hope it works well.
My battery dies around 40%. I use my phone for work and get very frustrated when the phone has to be charged multiple times a day! I've tried all these suggestions that Apple support recommends. Nothing helps. This issue with battery drain didn't start until I updated with iOS 10 and got considerably worse with 10.2. My phone was working fine before this. Apple needs to get this fixed. Very frustrating and unacceptable for an Apple product.
By the way, my son's phone was purchased the same day as mine, and he is still using iOS 9 and has no battery problem. He is a teenage and uses his phone even more than me with no battery issues. This is definitely a software issue that needs to be fixed soon.
It was suggested in an earlier post that another person with this problem restored the phone to factory defaults by wiping it out completely. Then manually reinstall all the apps. Do not restore from backup. This was a huge pain, but I have to say that I have seen my battery life improve quite a bit. I charged it yesterday around 7:00 and made it through up until now without having to recharge it. I haven't used it a ton in that time, but the phone (iPhone 6) is far more dependable now than before. The only issue I face is that it the battery indicator is still not accurate as it will drop significantly at certain intervals. Also, when I plug it in to recharge it will suddenly jump by 10-20% the second I attach the lightening adapter. I have read that this could be due to a failing battery, but then maybe it's the IOS because I never had this issue of an inaccurate battery reading before. I was also shocked by how much space I freed up on my phone by doing this. It *****, but this may work for others too?
What the **** is going on? My battery drained to 10% only after using for 4 hours, with safari, instagram & firefox via wifi, I was able to use same tasks for at least 24 hours before draining to 10.
People on beta 10.2.1 also say there is no fix so why Apple don't care what they have done to our phones?
I restored my phone to factory settings and reinstalled all the apps manually. I did not restore from backup. The first day appeared promising, but since then it is the same as it was previously. My phone drained 10% in 10 minutes listening to an online radio app this morning at home with a full strength wifi signal. Definitely something with the IOS. When people with 6, 6s, and 7 are all experiencing similar issues it cannot all be faulty hardware. I guess we just have to be patient.

No, definitely something wrong with one of the apps that you reinstalled. If it was something wrong with iOS then I would have the same problem, and hundreds of millions of other users would also. when you go to Settings/Battery which app uses the most energy?
There is no doubt something wrong with ios 10.2, and don't let anyone that lead you down this road (and not having this issue) of a fresh install tell you otherwise. Where did their advise get you this far besides more lost time, more frustration, and right back to square one?
Lead him down what road? He did a little bit of work and found out which app is draining his battery. Reinstalling it might fix it but if it doesn't he needs to contact iHeart so they are aware of it (which they may already be). There is a problem between that app and 10.2 that is causing a battery drain. It could be there is something in some part of 10.2 that is the issue and Apple needs to change it. The iHeart developers can work with Apple and it can be fixed in an update of iOS. If it is within the software of the app iHeart can issue an update. Issue resolved.
I don't use iHeart so I am not seeing that kind of battery drain. Most people aren't seeing it. And this occurs with every update.
Yes, the user was lead down the road of doing a fresh install would solve the problem. It did not solve the problem, and doesn't for many yet people still suggest this same old "I don''t know try this" approach.
They could at least admit it "may or may not" resolve the issue, but that appears difficult for some people.
