I am not receiving attachments in Mail

In the past month, mail does not reliably receive attachments. It does not receive if sent to a group, it sometimes selectivly receives some of the attachments, or it does not receive at all. Sometimes the paperclip icon appears but when I hover, the attachment box does not show up.

Hello gdonkin,

I understand you are having trouble receiving email attachments in the Mail application using macOS Sierra on your MacBook Pro. Here are a few things I would suggest to address the issue:
  • Update macOS Sierra to the latest version - Update the software on your Mac
  • Look at the email on your web mail providers website. Does the attachment show there? What size is it? There may be a file size limitation set.
  • See if the email message and attachment appears on other devices (iPhone, iPad, a different computer?)
I can't tell from your post who your email service provider is, so I will include some general information below for troubleshooting the Mail application and iCloud mail.
