Re: Apple update 10.2 - red dot indicting voicemail - but there is 'no' voicemail.

> The 10.2 latest Apple softwear update created a 'glitch' issue - that was not present in the device previous to new ios update.

Device = is a iPhone 7+

Indicated below are unnecessary steps that will not resolve an Apple Softwear ios 10.2 update that created this issue.

The only way to resolve the random pop-up red-dot indicating voice mail - when there is no voicemail - is for Apple to patch a fix for this latest update to resolve the red-dot on voicemail issue...

The below are the steps taken that did NOT resolve the issue:

> First - telephoned service provider (carrier) - determined voicemail completely disabled.

> Second = telephoned internet provider - wireless funtionality 100%.

> Thirdly = telephoned Apple Tech support - was advised to perform following trouble-shooting to try resolve issue:

- to do a factory reset,

- to disable and reconnect to wireless,

- to contact service provider / carrier as voicemail is a 'carrier' feature - (This was done before contacting Apple Tech Support, when asked Apple they expressed they were unaware of this 'new' red dot voice mail issue occuring after latest update).

*NOTE if enough people phone apple tech support @ 1 800 676 2775 to notify of this issue, they will hopefully expedite to work on update to fix this Apple softwear update issue with voicemail red dot indicator.

Yep I noticed. Well, i've reported the bug few hours before they release the update so.. But anyway I do not see a lot of topics in the forums about this issue so I do not think that they will bother.

It's very weird though, in which country are you living? Maybe we have the same carrier.

Also my phone app, does not give me the option to setup my voicemail like I saw in Jonathan's reply link. It connects automatically and that's worrying. 😐

Well I am not in Slovenia.

By the way, my carrier does not support voicemail service and "lost calls" service (you receive sms with the number and time someone called you when your phone was out of signal range or closed or in flight mode) at the same time. These two can cause issues if they are both activated. Call your carrier and ask them about it. If that's the case then they will give you a code to disable 1 of the 2 services and clean your voice messages.

I had the same issue. I disabled a lot of times the voicemail and cleaned the voice messages but that did not make any difference.

Looks like a software issue that is affecting specific carries? 😕

I have called them and told them and the problem with all of this is, is that there own technicians don't read this community board, so they actually believe I'm the only one having this issue. I'm not going to do a factory reset because I know that will not fix the issue. It literally happened after I updated.

APPLE needs to fix this problem ASAP, otherwise I want my money back I spent on this phone (which is a lot).

It's irrating and annoying.

No not specific carriers and definitely not a carrier issue it's an APPLE issue. I am with Telus in Canada and I do have voicemail and people keave me a message and I retrieve it and then erase it. Light goes away but then just randomly pops up again for no reason.

APPLE read your community boards and fix your problems these phones cost over 1000.00. (Hoping someone from APPLE will see this lol)

I got rid of the red dot on voicemail by typing 8 instead +7 in Settings > Phone > My number > +7 (XXX) XXX-XX-XX

Thus, after correction <My number> should look like this: 8 (XXX) XXX-XX-XX. The alarm red dot immediately disappeared and no longer worries! 😉

Hi Jonathon

I'm having the same problem, its a glitch that happened after the update the voicemail icon just goes on and off all the time it's random and I have voicemail with my carrier and I don't have visual voicemail and there are no messages on my voicemail. This person posted the same problem. He even took a picture of what is happening and many other apple users are having the same problem after the update. Has nothing to do with your carrier. Having the exact same issue here. The red dot comes and goes randomly. Very annoying. 😠

I've reported that bug to Apple, fingers crossed for iOS 10.2.1.

Do you believe that the battery draining issue have something to do with the voicemail notification bug?
