Update on my post above from three days ago:
IOS 10.3.1 Took care of my battery 'drain' issue. (I did the [step 2 above] reset which along with 'app' updates should always follow firmware updates.) Now showing 65% after two full days of normal usage which is close to what I experienced running IOS 9.
Only suffered IOS 10.2 for less than a week and other than tripled battery consumption, had noticed no other operational changes.
Not so with IOS 10.3; it's the greatest operational improvement since IOS 5!
Appearance and colors of all screens noticeably improved, some (like alarm set and snooze) radically changed and all 'look' better.
Most immediate operational change is no 'swipe' to open, just a double touch on 'Home' button for 'Lock' screen (or open if unlocked), along with plenty more improvements...
Many new features that my iPhone 5 (non-S) has no hardware for (like 'fingerprint, apple-pay etc. ...). And I expect after six months to be finished with 'updates' as IOS 11 is released. (IiAB/DFx) 🙂
I had 'donated' my perfect iPhone 4 to escape Verizon and 'got-lucky' with this '5'. There had been a few defective batteries in their first few months (2011), not enough for recall but enough for Apple to have a phone replacement program. So after more than three years, noticed a sliver of light at screen edge which was from the swelling battery lifting the screen. ➕Had expected just a battery replacement and they gave me a brand new phone last year...😎
