Every time I connect my iPhone in the Photo app on my iMac I get a message saying it "Cannot access... my phone". "This Mac has not yet been granted access to media...". The problem is that I have granted access by trusting the computer. I've done a reset on the phone so that I got to "Trust" the computer again, but the problem persists.

Did you update iTunes to the latest version on your Mac? Wiich version of macOS are you running?
Yes, everything up to date to the latest versions (I don't know what the MacOS is called, sorry, but it is the latest), but I'm not using iTunes at all. This is when I open the photo app and connect my iPhone.
We need the version - under the Apple menu ==> About this Mac what version of the OS do you actually have ("the latest" is not a version - it is a set of three numbers like 10.12.2)

You need the latest iTunes version installed to be able to trust the Mac, if your iPhone is running iOS 10.
So update iTunes, even if you do not use it.

Ok - that is exactly why we need the version number not an opinion - 10.12.1 is out of date and 10.12 2 is the latest version of OS X Sierra - while it probably is not the solution to this issue you should update to OS X Sierra 10.12.2 to see
