Protected AAC audio file, Apple Music and Sonos

Hi all,

Having a little difficulty getting unprotected version of songs I previously purchased from iTunes using Apple Music. Trying to do this so I can play my entire library on Sonos. Here is the issue:

I have hundreds of songs I purchased that are of type "Protected AAC audio file" or "Purchased AAC audio file".

The "Purchased AAC audio file" seem to play fine on Sonos but the the "Protected AAC audio file" do not because of DRM, I guess.

I thought the process to remove the DRM from a "Protected AAC audio file" when you have Apple Music was to right click on the song in iTunes and select "remove download" then click on the Cloud icon or "Make Available Offline" and it would download a version that is without Fairplay DRM. This doesn't seem to work. I'm still seeing Fairplay in "Info" for the song and then won't show up in Sonos. Am I doing something wrong? Other thoughts?

Yes, when you download an Apple Music track for offline listening, you get a DRM-protected version.

What you may be remembering about getting non-DRM versions applies to iTunes Match. If a particular song matches, you can download the matched copy and it will be non-DRM. For detail see:
