The application "VLC.app" can't be opened. -36

Hi!

I try to open the movie files in Finder window from Network Drive (Apple Time Capsule) by "Open with" and select VLC app.

The screen appears "The application "VLC.app" can't be opened. -36".

The problem do not happen with Local drive.

It works fine if I open the app first and open the file from "File/Open" menu.

The problem also happened with other document files.

Macbook Pro 13" Touch Bar Late 2016.

Mac OS Sierra 10.12.2

Same issue here, only i can not downgrade since the macbook pro was preinstalled with 10.12.2

Please help us with a patch or other solution.

I have exactly the same problem with Sierra 10.12.2

Seems it's a major bug of 10.12.2 and quite annoying.

Hope Apple fixes it quickly.

How is the server share connected, AFP or SMB?

Looklike SMB is ok.

I use nPlayer app on iphone 7+ and connect to Airport time capsule by SMB to play movie or music. And it works fine.

I haven't checked thoroughly, but 10.12.3 appears to have resolved this for me.

Yes!! Mine works just fine after the update to macOS Sierra 10.12.3.

If open the file with terminal, works.

example:

$ open PATH_FILE

The default app for extension will open the file.

Other solution for me, was drag and drop the file in the program
