If you don't know your old password

If you don't know your old password, the solution is to create a new login keychain.

If you know your old password

If you know your old password, use that password to update your existing login keychain:

  1. Open the Keychain Access app, which is in the the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
  2. From the list of keychains on the left side of the window, select "login."
  3. From the Edit menu in the menu bar, choose “Change Password for Keychain 'login.'”
  4. Enter the old password of your user account in the Current Password field. This is the password you were using before the password was reset.
  5. Enter the new password of your user account in the New Password field. This is the password you're now using to log in to your Mac. Enter the same password in the Verify field

Of course. Thanks for asking. When I wake my Mac (Sierra) from sleep I get various pop-ups relating to local items keychain, login keychain and iCloud keychain. They're triggered by various bits of software, too - but the most persistent one seems to be AddressBook. I've tried removing the folder with the long hex code (?) title from my Keychains folder and re-starting, but this hasn't fixed things. Sierra has no FirstAid option for Keychains and using the Keychain app to lock and unlock keychains doesn't seem to make a difference, either (also, this isn't an option for iCloud). So I'm at a loss.

Before following the steps make sure you have correct four digit I cloud verification code , all web mail , ( apple mail ID , I cloud ID & their respective passwords , your wireless network password , registered mobile ( it should be switched as on ) .

Click on go to go folder & type ~/Library go to folder keychains & select ( can use command + A ) alfa numeric folder , loginkeychain -db , meta data .keychain -db & delete ( command + delete ) to the trash . Restart & empty the trash .

A pop - up appears on the desktop this Mac can’t connect to I cloud because of a problem with ……web mail is written open I cloud preferences to fix this problem

( a ) later ( b ) I cloud preferences , so click on I cloud preferences .

Go to system preferences click on google mail , contacts & 3 more it prompts to enter web mail password , click on next .

Then click on I cloud , I cloud drive & 8 more on the right side check the box of key chain , an pop -up appears enter your Apple ID password & set up I cloud keychain .

Password ….required enter the password in the empty field ( a ) cancel ( b ) ok , click on ok

An pop up appears to set up I cloud keychain on this Mac request approval from one of your other devices using I cloud keychain .if no other devices are available , use I cloud security code ( a ) use code ( b ) cancel ( c ) request approval so , click on use code .

Enter your four digit I cloud security code & click on next enter the verification code ( 6 numbered ) sent to the mobile .

Open airport utility via spotlight & click on base station & enter the wireless network password

( a ) remember this password in my keychain ( cancel , ok) so click on ok .

Open safari & set the home page once again .

As , shown in your screen shot if you enter your username password that is same as keychain password in the first pop up it never accepts & immediately a second pop - up appears , in the same way another pop up window appears & this process goes on .

The reason for it is the keychain is corrupted.

A very short cut method is there that I have used multiple times in my system it is as :

If keychain is prompting to enter password multiple times , & pop - up is not going away when safari is opened .

Enter in user library method : click on go to go folder & type ~/Library then find a folder > keychains > remove first folder ( alfa numeric folder ) to trash . Restart & empty the trash , go to system preferences > internet accounts & once again configure web mail account , I cloud mail account by entering four digit I cloud verification code .

Open air port utility via spotlight > enter your base station password .

Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or if it's your User's folder that contains the problem.

CREATE A NEW USER

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups.

Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.

You can skip logging in with an Apple ID unless you need to test iCloud. Hit continue then skip.

Do you have iCloud Keychain checked? If yes....

You can return to System Preferences > iCloud and check sync Keychain.

Testing will be somewhat limited in the new User, but try to recreate the steps to see if you are constantly asked for password.

Only default Apple apps will be in the Dock in the new User. Go to Applications to open other apps you might want to test.

Do you still see the issue?

If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.

If the keychain is working correctly, you could copy over the Keychain folder in the User's folder via Shared folder to use in your problem User. Copy only the contents of Keychain folder, not the actual folder.
