My AirPods Don't Respond to Taps

Try to reconnect the whole airpod set using the forget this device method.Then reboot your device- ipone/mac. This fixed mine 100%

Tried that. Finally went to the Apple Store and got new pods.

I don’t think it has anything to do with you dropping it because mine didn’t fall and got the same problem, I can listen to music and talk on phone but no taps to answer or end calls or even talk to Siri, the right one works perfectly. I guess I’ll go to the Apple store to check, maybe it need to be replaced.

I have my airpods for over a month now. All of a sudden I started having the issue of them not responding to the double taps. I followed the suggestion, above, of tapping harder and quicker. That didn’t work so I went into settings>bluetooth and clicked on the “i” next to airpods. I clicked on the “>” next to Left airpod and clicked on siri, at which point a check mark appeared. Then I did the same with the right airpod, and problem solved.

There is usually always a simple fix to Apple products, and this was one of them.

Had my AirPods for about 2 months now, and I’ve tried just about everything I’ve read to fix my lack of a double tap function. Nothing. Left ear, right ear...nothing. I’m probably going to have to visit the Apple store and see if they can fix or replace.

What did they say at Apple? As I am having the same issue my left earbud will not respond to taps. Haven’t dropped or anything to them. Not sure if it’s the update or not though. Right one works just fine

I did try Jonathan's suggestions multiple times and only succeeded in making my ear hurt. Tapped really hard and very fast. One pod eventually jostled out of position and stopped the audio till I put the pod back in. Does ear structure play a part?

My left AirPod doesn’t answer on any kids of tapping.

It’d been working very good before my left AirPod has fallen (it was 1.5 meter from the ear , however tapping was working some time after.

I can use it to listen music or speak, but I can answer calls or cause Siri using tapping.

Right AirPod is working without any problem.

It’s can be a problem because of falling or there are some another problems?

My left tap function stop working after my right one fell into the water... It is stupid, but it is. Right one working good

There is no function assigned to a single tap.

When double-tapping, be sure to use two quick and sharp taps on the outside of the AirPod.

It may help to tap more sharply and/or more quickly than previously.

I just received mine yesterday, and was having the same issue, until I read your post this morning, and now the double-tap is working just fine. Just have to tap with a tad bit more force.

Yes, it really hurt my ear... The design is bad.
