Siri won't work when using a dock or hub

I use a LandingZone dock with a 15" MacBook Pro running OS 10.12.1 and Siri will function only when undocked (many hub/dock users have this issue). Does anyone know a solution?

Are you saying Siri doesn't work at all or it won't search external devices? I have an iMac with a 7 port hub with 3 USB drives, a headphone DAC and a wired keyboard plugged in and Siri works fine, although it won't find results on the external drives.

On the other hand, I have a MacBook with the Apple USB-C multi-port adapter and Siri won't find results on a USB drive plugged into that.

I just assumed Siri won't search external drives, either by design or because of a bug.

Siri functions properly when the MacBook is undocked from the LandingZone. When docked, I can open Sound preferences and see the indicator react when I speak or tap the mic. Several users of the OWC thunderbolt hub have reported the same issue with their device, too. When their hub is unplugged, Siri works properly. However I haven't tried to search an external drive yet so I can't comment on that issue.
