Problems when typing on iPhone 6S Plus

In the last couple of days, my iPhone 6S Plus has started acting up whenever I try to use the keyboard to text or when typing an email or even just touching the screen to type in something on an app. It gives me a little error vibration noise, very similar to the touch id sound when creating a finger for use with touch ID. It makes typing a text extremely difficult since it only works if I have a finger (any finger) exactly on top of the letter or object I'm trying to select. My husband has even tried it on my phone and gets the same result. I updated the iPhone to iOS 10.2 yesterday in hopes that it might cure the problem, but it did not. I can't find any similar problems on this support group and was hoping to get some guidance for what to do.
