iPOd touch 6th generation not syncing with iTunes

I bought a 6th generation iPod touch in May 2016, and cannot for the life of me, sync it with my iTunes (newest version). iTunes recognizes the iPod, but will not sync my music onto it. I've tried restoring and updating it, and even talking to an Apple Technician. iTunes gives me a message of "there was an internal error with the connected device so it cannot be synced." Can anyone help me with this problem?

iPod touch, iOS 10.1, 6th generation iPod.

Hi cdole,

It sounds like you are trying to sync your iPod with iTunes and in doing so you are receiving an error message that reads "there was an internal error with the connected device so it cannot be synced."

Are you using the Apple branded charging cord that came with the iPod? Are you using a Mac or PC? Is there an error number when you try to sync?
