do i need to format a new sd card to use with a mac

I have an iMac, OS Sierra, Version 10.12.1, Late 2012

Processor 2.7GHz intel core i5

I want to copy my iTunes to an SD Card so that I can play it in my car.

1. Do I need to format a new SD Card? If so, how?

2. How do I copy the music from my iTunes to my SD Card?

Ps you can't copy Apple Music to SD card.

Thank you for your reply. It worked.

None of it is Apple music. They are all songs from the 50's and 60's, transferred from my collection of vinyl records. Includes scratches and all. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
