By default ccleaner is a completely worthless piece of junk that should be avoided. As should any other such utility.

Please disregard the implications of that document's title. It is not relevant to the procedure and the tasks it accomplishes.
Then, shut down, and restart your Mac normally. Determine if those actions resolve the problem. If not, please write back for additional suggestions.

No problem, Allan. I've looked at it before to see why people would recommend it. It doesn't do anything you can't do yourself with the tools the Mac OS supplies. Knowing that, why would anyone pay $25 for an app that does essentially nothing useful?
Yes, Kurt, that was the same conclusion I came with after testing all of the so called "maintenance" application I was able to download a demo copy to test. The little bit they did that was good could be done safer, easier and cheaper using OS X. hence the reason I always recommend against their usage.
