unknown error (5) during restore

When restoring my iPhone, I encountered the unknown error (5). What do I need to do to resolve this error?

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.2

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to restore your iPhone and you're getting an unknown error (5) message in iTunes. For unknown errors, please start with the steps in this Apple article, depending on if you're using a Mac or a Windows computer:
