Latest ElCap upgrade hanging 10.11.6 - "Stalling for detach"

The most recent upgrade to ElCap (10.11.6) has resulted in the OS regularly hanging for one or more minutes. It has been reported on 2012 machines, and lately on more recent machines. Sometimes one can still move the mouse pointer during the hangand from time to time multiple actions will take place, and then the hang will resume.

The message in the Console is:

kernel: Stalling for detach from IntelAccelerator

kernel: Stalling for detach from nvAccelerator

There has been some discussion that this could be related to VirtualBox (Re: Stalling for detach from IntelAccelerator, nvAccelerator), but it also takes place on systems with no such installation.

It smells like an OS problem. How does one get someone at Apple to address this?

I'd suggest installing the update that was just put out.. I installed it earlier tonight after getting the notifications about it via the posts here.

Update has installed fine here. But now my console is full of mdworker mach deny lookup errors. Reindexing now, hope this helps.

They released this update just as I was installing Sierra to get around it :-)

Ah well, it was high time I did install Sierra, and that also fixed it!

I also have lots of mdworker messages, but I checked older logs and I was getting them before this update, so I don't think it's related.

Two days in and the update seems to have resolved the issues. Haven't been able to go this long without a restart in a while. 🙂

After reindexing they have completely disappeared for me. I only had them sometimes during the reindexing that tool 2 or 3 hours.
