Display compatibility at 21:9

I'll be buying a Mac Mini with the Iris graphics card. The monitor I want to put on it is a 34" LG monitor.

LG 34UM88C-P 34" UltraWide QHD IPS Monitor | 3440 x 1440,5ms,300 cd/m2,1000:1,HDMI,DisplayPort

I know I can use the HDMI port at 30Hz to run this monitor. Will the display port work as well? The specs say two monitors at 2560 x 1600, but it's not clear if 2560 x 1600 is the max for a single 21:9 monitor.

Any ideas if this monitor will work on the display port?

Looking at all of this, 2560 is the highest horizontal res that the mini can handle so this monitor will have to drop down to work on this card. I can get a cheaper 34" 2560 x 1080 but that offers no gain over a 27" 2560 x 1440. It actually will display less, just over a 21:9 format.

Only hope is that the Mac Mini graphics card is improved over the next few months. I can delay the purchase for a few months to see if things get upgraded. The entire idea behind the 3440 x 1440 34" monitor is to have a better editing platform for FCPx. I'd be better off running two monitors instead if I'm stuck with 2560 x 1440.
