transferring content old iPad to new iPad - does iOS version need to match?

I want to get a new iPad and transfer all of the data from my old iPad. I have done this before by following the steps in this article:

Transfer content from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

My concern is that in my current situation, the OLD device is iOS 9.3.5, and when I check for a software update, I get the message that the software is up to date.

Will there be any problems transferring the data from an older iOS software version device to a newer iOS software version?

Thanks!

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.5

There shouldn't be a problem, there's only an issue if it's the other way round e.g. you can't install a backup from a higher iOS version onto a lower iOS device.

Generally it's best to do the backup/restore via a computer's iTunes, doing it via iCloud won't include everything e.g. your music in the Music app, purchases that are no longer in the store - as long as the items are in the iTunes library then iTunes restore should copy them onto the new iPad
